Miley Cyrus Purchases 2024 Grammys Performance Dress from Bob Mackie Archives: ‘Pivotal Moment in My Life’

Miley Cyrus is giving her Grammys performance outfit its “Flowers!”

The singer, 32, has purchased the iconic Bob Mackie archival dress she wore to perform at the 2024 Grammy Awards in a new auction celebrating the fashion designer’s works. 

The show-stopping design featured in the “Hollywood Legends: Unmistakably Mackie” collection by Turner Classic Movies and Julien’s Auctions, showcasing Mackie’s dazzling award-winning creations, with a portion of the sale going to the nonprofit MusicCares, which supports artists in need. 

“This dress represents more than a performance — it’s a celebration of the relationship between music, artistry and glamour,” Cyrus said, per a press release. “This performance was a pivotal moment in my life and to have Bob Mackie’s support in securing it means the world to me.”

Cyrus performed her 2023 hit song “Flowers” at the Grammys wearing the dress from Mackie’s FW2002 collection in February. The silver embellished design features a bralette and cut-out at the chest with asymmetric tassels swinging from the skirt.

The musician sported the design after winning her first ever Grammy for the track – best pop solo performance. She later also picked up the record of the year award for the song, making her a two-time Grammy winner.

Mackie, 85, said of Cyrus, “Miley’s performance at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards marked an unforgettable moment in her career. As the designer of this dress, I couldn’t imagine it on anyone else. That girl was born to perform!”

Mackie’s creations have born worn by several other major stars over the decades, including Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Pink and Cher, who famously wore a black two-piece and matching headdress by the designer at the 1986 Oscars.

Julian’s Auctions’ latest collection celebrating Mackie’s works marks iconic moments in music and fashion while recognizing his important legacy, not only in fashion, but in music history too.

The “Unmistakably Mackie” collection is next heading to Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies’ “A Week of Hollywood Legends” event, which kicks off from Dec. 10-13 at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and online at Julien’s Auctions.
