Meet Michelle Williams’ brood.
The actress is a three-time mom, welcoming her eldest child with Heath Ledger prior to his January 2008 death.
The former couple dated from 2004 to 2007.
After a brief marriage to musician Phil Elverum, Williams wed theater director Thomas Kail, with whom she shares two more children.
The Golden Globe winner gushed to Entertainment Weekly in January 2023 about her “heart belong[ing] to” her little ones, saying “they tug at it the most.”
Get to know Williams’ family members below.
Matilda Ledger
Williams gave birth to daughter Matilda on Oct. 28, 2005. However, their lives were completely changed when Ledger died of an accidental drug overdose two years later at age 28.
Williams’ pal Jeremy Strong then moved in to help take care of the toddler with the “Blue Valentine” telling Variety in 2022, “Jeremy was serious enough to hold the weight of a child’s broken heart and sensitive enough to understand how to approach her through play and games and silliness.”
“She didn’t grow up with her father, but she grew up with her Jeremy,” Williams continued. “We were changed by his ability to play as though his life depended upon it, because hers did.”
The Oscar nominee has kept Matilda primarily out of the spotlight, telling Elle in a 2016 interview that she wants her child to have the “authentic experience of being alive” without knowing “people are watching.”
Matilda has, however, been photographed out and about in rare sightings over the years.
The teen and Williams were spotted holding hands in Brooklyn in July 2024, and Matilda was all smiles grabbing coffee with a friend in January of the following year.
Hart Kail
Williams debuted her baby bump at the January 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards, one month after her pregnancy — and engagement to Kail — made headlines.
She gave birth to a baby boy named Hart sometime during the COVID-19 pandemic but has yet to reveal exactly when the infant arrived.
“It was a reminder that life goes on,” she said in a May 2022 Variety interview. “The world we brought a baby into is not the world we thought we were bringing a baby into, but the baby is ignorant of that. He experiences the unmitigated joy of discovery and the happiness of a loving home.”
Baby No. 3
In that same interview, Williams gushed to the outlet about the “joyous” experience of expanding her family further.
“It’s exciting to discover that something you want again and again, is available one more time,” the Emmy winner said of her pregnancy, shortly before showing her bump at the Cannes Film Festival.
By October 2022, the little one — whose name and sex Williams kept private — had arrived.
