Michael Jordan’s Chicago Mansion Sells for $9.5 Million After 12 Years on Market

Michael Jordan’s mansion in Highland Park, Ill., has finally sold after more than 12 years on the market —but for only a portion of the original price. 

The NBA legend’s sprawling estate was most recently listed at $14.8 million, but according to listing agent Katherine Malkin of Compass Realty, the 32,000-square-foot abode reportedly went under contract as of September and the sale has now officially closed, as confirmed by NBC Chicago.

However, according to the listing, the final price was $9.5 million which had the closing date set at Dec. 10. The 56,000 square-foot property, which comes equipped with every luxury amenity imaginable, has been on and off the market for 12 years. It was originally listed for $29 million in March 2012 according to property records, then dropped to $14.855 million in 2015.

Per the listing, “NBA Superstar Michael Jordan’s seven-acre estate is as legendary as His Airness himself,” and it goes on to list the custom-designed property’s endless amenities which include “a regulation-sized basketball gymnasium, circular infinity pool, putting green, tennis court, and cigar room, each with Jordan’s signature touch.”

The property’s massive front gate sports a silver “23” in honor of Jordan’s iconic Chicago Bulls number. Photos in the listing also reveal a fully equipped weight room and the home has a total of nine bedrooms and provides plenty of toilet options with its whopping 19 bathrooms.

Jordan originally purchased the seven acres of land in 1991 and the property, which was built in 1995, is where the athlete and his ex-wife Juanita Jordan raised their three children until their split in 2006, PEOPLE previously reported.

It’s also the same home belonging to the retired basketball legend that was broken into back in April 2023. As noted in a brief Facebook statement posted at the time, “Officers are on-scene responding to a burglary in progress” on the “2700 block of Point Drive,” where an 18-year-old man was reportedly arrested on the scene.

He was charged with three misdemeanors: one count of criminal trespass to an occupied residence and two counts of criminal damage to property. A second individual, a minor, was also taken into custody.
