Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones marked a very special family milestone over the weekend. The Hollywood couple celebrated their eldest son Dylan Douglas’s 26th birthday on August 8, sharing heartfelt tributes alongside a collection of never-before-seen family photographs that captured his journey from childhood to adulthood.
The emotional posts offered fans a rare glimpse inside one of Hollywood’s most enduring families, with both proud parents reflecting on the close bond they share with their eldest child.
Catherine’s touching tribute
Catherine, 56, was the first to honour her son, posting a carousel of treasured family photographs spanning his entire life.
The collection included adorable childhood snaps, one showing a young Dylan cuddled beside his baby sister Carys, another of him nestled in his mother’s arms, as well as more recent portraits of the aspiring actor.
“Happy birthday to my son Dylan!!!!!” the Wednesday star wrote.
“You are everything to me and fill my life with joy. Have a wonderful year ahead, love, and thank you for all the ones we have shared so far. @dylan__douglas I love you.”
Michael’s words of wisdom
Michael, 81, also paid tribute with a recent father-and-son photograph taken during one of their adventures together.
“Dylan, my son, time flies,” the Oscar winner wrote. “Cherish the year you’re leaving behind and face the new one with strength. All my love and best birthday wishes from your biggest fan! @dylan__douglas Dad.”
The pair have long shared a close relationship, often travelling together and enjoying the family’s beloved retreat in Mallorca.
Sister Carys shares sweet memories
Dylan’s younger sister, Carys, 23, also joined the celebrations with a touching tribute celebrating their lifelong friendship.
Sharing photographs from childhood alongside more recent hiking adventures, she wrote: “To my lifelong adventure partner: Happy Birthday, dear Dylan. I am so grateful to be able to journey through life with you, @dylan__douglas.”
The siblings, who are just three years apart, have frequently spoken about their close bond, with Dylan responding simply: “I love you.”
The photos showed the pair trekking through spectacular mountain scenery with backpacks and hiking poles, highlighting their shared love of adventure.
Following in the family footsteps
While Dylan graduated from Brown University with a degree in Political Science, he has decided to pursue a career in acting, continuing the Douglas family’s remarkable Hollywood legacy.
His grandfather was legendary actor Kirk Douglas, while both parents have enjoyed decades-long careers on screen.
After voicing a character in Phineas and Ferb as a child, Dylan is now preparing for his feature film debut in the thriller I Will Come To You, alongside Peter Facinelli.
Speaking to Variety about the project, Dylan said: “I was drawn to this role because of its complexity and depth. I’m really looking forward to bringing this character to life and being part of a project that pushes boundaries.”
A family summer in Mallorca
The birthday celebrations come as the Douglas-Zeta-Jones family continue spending time at their beloved Mallorca estate, S’Estaca, where they have created countless family memories over the years.
The spectacular property, perched between Valldemossa and Deià, has been part of Michael’s life since 1989 and has long served as the family’s Mediterranean sanctuary.
Just days before Dylan’s birthday, Carys made headlines after speaking fluent Spanish while accompanying her father to receive the Terra d’Honor award at the Costa Nord Cultural Centre in Valldemossa. “Mallorca is a big part of my life. Valldemossa is my whole life,” she said. “All my favorite memories are here.”
