Michael Douglas, 81, holds hands with his daughter Carys, 23 in stunning red carpet appearance

Michael Douglas enjoyed a rare public outing with his daughter Carys as the pair arrived hand-in-hand for a special ceremony in Mallorca.

The Fatal Attraction star, 81, was joined by his 23-year-old daughter as he was appointed one of the island’s first Terra d’Honor Ambassadors, recognising his decades-long commitment to Mallorca and his efforts to promote its culture and heritage around the world.

Michael looked effortlessly smart in a navy suit teamed with an open-collared white shirt and black leather shoes.

Meanwhile, Carys, whom he shares with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, stole the spotlight in an elegant all-black ensemble featuring a fitted strapless top and wide-leg trousers with intricate lace detailing at the hem. 

She completed the chic look with delicate gold jewellery, strappy metallic heels and a snakeskin shoulder bag. The father-daughter duo smiled for photographers before affectionately holding hands on the red carpet, highlighting their close bond.

A special connection to Mallorca

The honour reflects Michael’s long-standing relationship with the Spanish island. The Oscar-winning actor purchased his spectacular S’Estaca estate in Mallorca’s Tramuntana mountains in 1989 and has spent decades championing the island. The historic property includes vineyards that have produced award-winning local wines, while Michael has long been involved in the cultural and political life of nearby Valldemossa.

Over the years, he and Catherine have welcomed numerous Hollywood friends to the idyllic retreat, helping introduce Mallorca to an international audience.

A proud moment for Carys

The appearance comes just weeks after Carys celebrated a major milestone of her own by making her professional stage debut in New York.

The Brown University graduate starred as Nina in a production of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, taking on one of theatre’s most iconic roles. The character has previously been portrayed by stars including Saoirse Ronan, Emilia Clarke, Carey Mulligan, Natalie Portman and Dame Helen Mirren.

According to reports, both Michael and Catherine were “so proud” of their daughter’s achievement, with Catherine publicly showing her support on social media ahead of the production’s limited run.

Despite growing up surrounded by Hollywood, Carys has said her passion for acting has always been rooted in the craft itself.

“I grew up doing theatre, and I didn’t study acting in school, but that’s why I’m happy to be in such an informative arts space,” she previously told People.

Following in famous footsteps

Carys is continuing a remarkable family legacy. Her mother Catherine began performing as a child in London’s West End before winning an Academy Award for Chicago and a Tony Award for A Little Night Music. 

Michael also started his career on the stage before becoming one of Hollywood’s most celebrated leading men, while his father was screen legend Kirk Douglas.

The couple’s eldest child, Dylan, 25, has also carved out a public career, hosting the Gen Z-focused political talk show Young American with Dylan Douglas.
