Michael Bolton is spending Christmas with his family after a rough year.

The singer, 71, shared a festive picture with his loved ones on Facebook on Wednesday, Dec. 25 after discovering that he had a brain tumor and required surgery “just before the holidays” last year.

“Sending warm wishes for a holiday season filled with peace, love, and joy,” he captioned the post. “May the New Year bring health, happiness, and countless moments to cherish.”

The “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” singer added, “Here’s to fresh starts and beautiful moments in 2024!”

The photo shows Bolton sitting on a couch with four loved ones – three of whom are rocking matching pajama tops. The whole family donned Christmas attire in the pic with the singer wearing a Santa hat and a red and white Grinch shirt underneath a black sweater.

He was covered in a light blue holiday-themed blanket with presents, snowmen and Christmas trees.

Bolton has three daughters — Isa, Holly, and Taryn — whom he shares with ex-wife Maureen McGuire. He is also a grandfather to six grandchildren.

In July 2023, the two-time Grammy winner told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that his children and grandchildren poke fun at his signature long locks from the ’80s and ’90s.

“There’s a birthday card where you have to pull my head out of this cake, and then I sing ‘Happy Birthday.’ One of my grandchildren saw it in the store and said, ‘How is G-pa getting so famous?'” he said. “It’s amusing and funny, but they’re not impressed by celebrity.”

Last January, Bolton revealed that he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and would be taking a break from the stage.

“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery. Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success,” the singer wrote on Facebook. “I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”

The famed musician also told fans he will be “devoting” the “next couple of months” to his recovery and taking a “temporary break” from touring.

“It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon,” wrote Bolton, thanking his fans for their “love and support” through the years.

In August, fans had a scare when someone reported that several police cars were at Bolton’s Connecticut home.

“Something with several police cars is happening at Michael Bolton’s house here in Westport CT. I hope he is all right,” read the initial X post.

Bolton directly responded, writing, “All is good!! Just prepping for a small landscape project 😄. Thanks for checking!”

The singer canceled a string of upcoming concerts in October due to his health, stating that he is “just not quite 100% yet” and is still on a “road to recovery.”

“It is challenging and often times frustrating because I just want to be out there performing for you but I need a little more time to build back my full strength and stamina,” he wrote on Facebook. “My progress is good and I have been able to get a little work done on a couple exciting projects that you’ll be hearing about very soon.”

He is currently set to perform at the O2 in London in July 2025, per his website.
