Melissa Joan Hart has sent fans of Sabrina the Teenage Witch into full meltdown mode after teasing a mysterious announcement that many are convinced is linked to the beloved 1990s sitcom.
On Friday, April 10, the actress, 49, took to Instagram with a cryptic post that immediately sparked a wave of speculation. “Stay tuned for a fun announcement on Monday!” Melissa wrote alongside a simple image of a black cat silhouette against a black background.
While Melissa offered no further explanation, longtime fans were quick to make the connection to Salem – Sabrina Spellman’s wisecracking feline sidekick, who became one of the most iconic TV pets of the decade.
The comments section quickly filled with excited guesses, with many hoping the tease could mean a reboot, reunion special or anniversary project is in the works.
“Tell me you’re coming back as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, with Salem!!” one fan wrote, while another added: “WHAT OMG I CAN’T BREATHE.”
Others began pitching their dream revival ideas, with one follower commenting: “Manifesting a reboot with Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick back too!” Another suggested: “Sabrina: Mother of a Teenage Witch,” while others floated possibilities including a rewatch podcast, a cast reunion or even an appearance at 90s Con.
The timing of Melissa’s post has only fuelled the speculation further, as this year marks a major milestone for the cult-favourite series. Sabrina the Teenage Witch first premiered on September 27, 1996, meaning the show will officially celebrate its 30th anniversary later this year.
The sitcom ran for seven hugely successful seasons until 2003 and followed teenage witch Sabrina Spellman as she navigated high school, first love and supernatural mishaps while living with her eccentric aunts, Hilda and Zelda.
The show became a defining part of late-90s pop culture, helping cement Melissa as a household name and introducing a generation of viewers to Sabrina’s magical world.
Melissa also added to the nostalgia just weeks ago when she shared a reunion snap with two of her former co-stars – Nate Richert, who played Sabrina’s longtime love interest Harvey Kinkle, and Beth Broderick, who starred as Aunt Zelda.
“When the magic fam comes together!” Melissa captioned the sweet post, sending fans into a nostalgic spiral.
Whether Monday’s reveal turns out to be a full reboot, anniversary special or something completely unexpected, one thing is clear: Sabrina fans are more than ready to head back to Greendale.
