For the 148th time, the White House Easter Egg Roll rolled onto the South Lawn of the White House. First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump continued the annual tradition at the White House on Easter Monday, April 6.

Mrs. Trump looked business chic for the occasion, wearing a white shirt under a navy jacket, both from Polo Ralph Lauren, teamed with wide, off-white Dolce Gabbana trousers and Roger Vivier flats. This year marks a departure from her previous Easter Egg Roll looks, as she opted for a blazer and trousers for the first time. In the past, she has worn dresses and coats, including a belted Mackage trench coat last year.

The first couple, accompanied by the Easter Bunny, arrived on the Truman Balcony on Monday, where the president praised his wife, calling her a “movie star,” referencing her 2026 documentary Melania. While later coloring with kids, the president also remarked: “You know who she is? She’s a movie star who came in from Hollywood to be with you.”

The president and first lady honored America’s upcoming 250th birthday at the event by incorporating patriotic themes, including red, white and blue eggs. Prior to Monday, the first lady’s office announced that this year’s Easter Egg Roll would be taking “on a special patriotic spirit—bringing families together to celebrate both the joy of Easter and the enduring blessings of liberty that define the American story.”

The 2026 event’s various activities and experiences included a Be Best ring toss, a Be Best military card writing station, a bunny hop stage courtesy of YouTube, a lunar exploration experience, egg coloring, a cookie decorating station, mini golf, a grand prix racing station, a reading nook — where the first lady read Margaret Wise Brown’s The Runaway Bunny to children — and much more.

Following their arrival on April 6, Melania told attendees: “Happy Easter Monday. I hope you enjoy this beautiful day. We are celebrating a very special Easter Egg Roll this year because it’s [the] 250th birthday of this beautiful nation. Enjoy it and I hope you have a wonderful day.” The president then thanked his wife, calling her “honey.”

“She worked very hard with her staff and the staff of the White House on really just making it nice,” the president said of his wife. “This is the nicest I’ve ever seen it. So, this is my fifth and I will say that this is- it gets better every time, right? It gets better every time.”

Monday’s event was the fifth Easter Egg Roll hosted by the Trumps. The first took place in 2017 during President Trump’s first term, followed by events in 2018, 2019 and 2025. The White House tradition itself dates back to 1878, when Rutherford B. Hayes was president.
