T.D. Jakes, a renowned Christian pastor and motivational speaker, experienced a âslight health incidentâ after delivering a sermon this weekend.
On Sunday, Nov. 24, a statement shared on Jakesâ official social media pages said that the bishop, 67, was âunder the care of medical professionalsâ and is âstableâ after he was seen pausing and being surrounded by a group of people during a sermon at The Potterâs House of Dallas, which was shared widely via a livestream.
âDuring todayâs service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message,â the church wrote in a statement. âBishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals.â
âThe entire Potterâs House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers,â the statement concluded.
While speaking onstage, Jakes could be seen sitting on a chair and wiping his head with a cloth, before telling his audience that preaching is âgetting back more than you gave.â
Moments later, after sharing a few more words, Jakes lowered his microphone and looked downward before seemingly convulsing. Several people onstage then crowded around the motivational speaker to assist him, before the livestream apparently cut out.
Jakes founded the non-denominational, multicultural church back in 1996, per its website. It has 30,000 members â operating as a non-profit organization with a principal campus in southern Dallas.
According to the churchâs Instagram page, the service on Sunday kicked off at 9 a.m. CT, for what it called an âopportunity to soak up the warmth of family, feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, and a receive a life-changing Word.â
Jakes encouraged churchgoers to attend â either online or in-person â on Sunday, writing on his personal Instagram that he was âready to share what God gave me with YOU.â Several followers have since shown their support under the post, wishing Jakes a speedy recovery and asking for additional updates on his health.
