Netflix’s longest-running scripted series Virgin River has gone through some surprising cast changes — so who is expected to appear in season 7?
Based on Robyn Carr’s book series, Virgin River follows the lives of residents living in a small town in Northern California, including Mel and Jack. The hit series, which premiered in 2019, also stars Colin Lawrence, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen, Marco Grazzini, Mark Ghanimé and Kai Bradbury.
After many ups and downs — including a miscarriage in season 5 — Jack and Mel finally ended season 6 as husband and wife. Despite their past obstacles, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith exclusively told Us Weekly why fans shouldn’t be worried about the fan-favorite couple’s next chapter.
“We will continue to see Mel and Jack move down their path towards parenthood,” Smith explained to Us in December 2024. “We get to live in the newlywed bliss that they have and the challenges that come with that as a new married couple.”
He added: “I think that with the pace at which we’re moving comfortably gives us a lot of opportunity to just keep telling more and more stories for as many seasons to come as possible.”
Elsewhere in the finale, exes Brie (Allen) and Brady (Hollingsworth) slept together. They didn’t get their happily ever after — yet — because after Brie told her boyfriend, Mike (Grazzini), about her affair with Brady, he chose to propose.
“From day 1, it’s been an uphill battle for them,” Hollingsworth exclusively told Us in November 2025 of the embattled pair. “But I think that that’s what makes them so inspiring and what makes them a couple that people are rooting for.”
Hollingsworth praised Virgin River for making the romance feel realistic.
“They do face all these challenges — much like our own personal lives,” he noted. “No one’s perfect. But they do have something. They have this chemistry — this magnetic pull together.”

Martin Henderson
The actor’s role as Jack will continue to be central to Virgin River, which has followed various ups and downs.

Season 1 introduced Colin Lawrence as Preacher, who is an ongoing presence in Virgin River.
Lauren Hammersley
While Lauren Hammersley is still expected to make appearances as Charmaine, it remains unclear in what capacity going into season 7.
Annette O’Toole
There would be no Virgin River without O’Toole’s role as Hope.
Tim Matheson
Similar to Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson is reprising his portray of Doc.
Ben Hollingsworth
Ben Hollingsworth’s Brady is presumably playing a big role in season 7 — as usual.
Sarah Dugdale
Despite her onscreen love interest leaving the show, Sarah Dugdale has remained in the role of Lizzie.
Zibby Allen
The same applies for Zibby Allen’s Brie a.k.a Jack’s sister with her own tumultuous past.
Marco Grazzini
After joining later in the series, Marco Grazzini is a central part of the show as Mike.
Kai Bradbury
Kai Bradbury’s Denny is expected to keep playing a big role in season 7 of Virgin River.
Kandyse McClure
Following her casting as Kaia, Kandyse McClure has remained a main cast member.
Cody Kearsley
The actor will play a tough and athletic character named Clay, who is described as “the kind of guy who gets noticed when he enters a room.”
“Clay has experience working the rodeo circuit,” read the character synopsis. “He grew up in foster care with his younger sister, whom he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager. He’s been looking for her ever since.”
Sara Canning
Sara Canning will be joining the cast as “ex-cop Victoria, who was shot in the line of duty and now works for the state medical board as an investigator.”
“Victoria comes to Virgin River to look into Doc’s practice but runs into a friend she wouldn’t mind catching up with … or maybe even pursuing something more,” the description teased.
