The Hamptons is often called a playground for the wealthy and famous of New York. The group of seaside communities along the Long Island sound was first visited by NYC’s elite in the late 19th century after the Long Island Rail Road was expanded.

From the Vanderbilts to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the Hamptons has long been the premiere retreat for high society. In 2013, “Billionaire Lane” was coined, describing a two-mile stretch of Southampton where only billionaires reside. The status of summering in the Hamptons has only increased since then.
