Ascending the throne isnât to be taken lightly and the heavy gaze of the outside world requires commitment from a young age. Queen Victoria famously requested an hour alone following the news on 20 June 1837 that she would soon be crowned queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. But times have changed and young royals today are allowed a little more freedom for something a bit closer to a ânormalâ childhood.
Weâre looking at the newest branches on the family tree of royals across Europe, from Prince Louis to the new Princess Ines of Sweden.Â
Prince Louis, the youngest of three children, was born to Prince William and Princess Kate
Prince Louis, United Kingdom
Famous for his âcheekyâ antics, the third child of Prince William and Princess Kate was born 23 April 2018 and is fourth in line to the throne. His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Wales, previously âof Cambridgeâ, owes his middle name to grandfather King Charles. Whenever heâs spotted at events alongside his family, from Trooping the Colour to Christmas Day at Sandringham, the young royal always entertains his family and royal fans alike with his gregarious personality.
Infanta SofĂa is the daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain
Infanta SofĂa, Spain
While less high-profile than her sister, the future queen Princess Leonor, Infanta SofĂa (called as such as only the heir to the throne is called Princess) is quietly making her mark. The 18-year-old is the youngest daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain and has gradually been starting to take on solo engagements. She is a passionate advocate for animal rights, something shared with her grandmother, Queen Sofia. She graduated from UWC Atlantic, which her sister had attended, as well. During SofĂaâs graduation ceremony, her teacher described her as a ânaturally empathetic and affectionate listenerâ. All in all, the young royal seems to have a promising future ahead of her as she makes her first moves as a representative for the Spanish royal family.
Princess Ines is one of the youngest members of European royalty
Princess Ines, Sweden
Princess Ines is a very new addition to the Swedish royal family. Born to Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia in 2025, she recently celebrated her first birthday. Her besotted parents shared a selection of photos of their fourth child on social media. On their official Instagram, the couple wrote in Swedish: âToday we celebrate our little ray of sunshine Ines, who turns 1 year old.â The Princess, who is eighth in line to the throne, was certainly a happy sight on the day of her christening, sweetly dressed in a white christening gown while her mother Princess Sofia beamed in sunshine yellow. The ceremony on 13 Friday June doubled as a celebration of Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Phillipâs 10th wedding anniversary.Â
Prince Sverre is third in line to the throne and the younger child of Norwayâs Crown Prince and Princess
Prince Sverre, Norway
Prince Sverre Magnus was born on 3 December 2005 to parents Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and is third in line to the throne of Norway. He attended the JanslĂžkka Elementary School in Asker from 2011 to 2014, subsequently enrolling at two Oslo schools until 2024, when he graduated in the spring.
