Meet Elton John’s famous godchildren – including the grown-up son of a Beatles star

Elton is a longtime family friend to the Beckhams, with David once admitting he’s actually known Elton “longer than I’ve known my wife”. 

The legendary singer was named a godfather to two of David and Victoria Beckham’s sons, including their eldest child, Brooklyn Beckham, 27. 

While Brooklyn publicly addressed his rumoured family feud with the Beckhams in a scathing January social media post, declaring that he does “not want to reconcile” with his estranged parents, the 27-year-old has seemed to remain in contact with his godfather. 

Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz attended Elton’s AIDS Foundation’s 34th Annual Academy Awards viewing party back in March. 

The two were then pictured holidaying with Elton on his yacht in the south of France in August. They were seen chatting on the deck as they spent some quality time together amid Brooklyn’s ongoing family estrangement. 

Elton and his husband David are also godparents to the middle Beckham boy, Romeo, 23. 

The singer was there to help ring in Romeo’s 16th birthday back in 2018, joining the Beckhams for a special family dinner. 

“Early birthday celebrations! X From the best godparents,” Victoria captioned a video from the night, in which Elton could be seen singing “Happy Birthday” to his godson with the rest of the group. 

After more than three decades of friendship, it’s hardly a surprise that Elizabeth Hurley named Elton John as her son Damien Hurley’s godfather. Damian, who is now 24, has developed a sweet bond with his famous godfather. 

Reflecting on their relationship, Damian previously told HELLO! at the London premiere of Elton’s biopic titled Never Too Late: “Elton and David are both my godparents. They’re both so kind. So loyal. They’re some of the first people I call for advice.”

He added: “They very kindly have me stay with them all over the world and I couldn’t love them more.”

Damian, who is a budding director and made his directorial debut in April 2024 with his film Strictly Confidential, also previously opened up to us about Elton’s support.

“He was so great. So when I was writing and directing my first film, I called him all the time and he really reassured me. Really talked me down if I was stressed or if I was overwhelmed. They’re both just incredibly loyal and kind, I’m very lucky,” Damian told HELLO!. 

One of Elton’s godchildren is the son of another very well-known musician. 

The Tiny Dancer singer was friends with The Beatles star John Lennon back in the 70s and helped play matchmaker for John and Yoko Ono, who had split in 1973 before getting back together in 1975 and welcoming their son, Sean Ono Lennon. 

In 2020, Sean, 50, interviewed Elton for a special BBC Radio show to mark what would have been his dad John’s 80th birthday. During the segment, the pair discussed how Elton played a role in helping John and Yoko rekindle their relationship, and was subsequently named Sean’s godfather. 

Elton had John join him on stage at Madison Square Garden in 1975 to perform their chart-topping song Whatever Gets You Thru The Night. Yoko turned up to the performance, and the rest is history. 

“The fact that he got back together with your mum and then they had you and that consequently that’s why you asked me to be your godfather, because it was happenstance and Kismet,” Elton told Sean. 

“I was born nine months later, approximately, I mean, almost to the day. So in a way, if it wasn’t for you playing that show, I can honestly say I wouldn’t even exist probably,” Sean told his godfather.
