The McBee Dynasty patriarch Steve McBee Sr. is making arrangements for his beloved pet dog, Gunner, before he reports to prison.

“We make jokes because I’m [nearly] 53 years old, and my mom’s moving back in with me. This is my circle of life,” Steve, 52, told People on Saturday, November 29, revealing his mother will be watching Gunner during his incarceration. “She’s got a couple of little dogs, and she’s going to stay at my house with Gunner and make her quilts all day.”

Steve further joked that he’s “more worried” about Gunner than his four sons, Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole and Brayden.

“Gunner’s been with me since he was 6 weeks old. He sleeps right here on my neck. The boys will be fine, they’re grown men,” Steve acknowledged to the outlet. “But Gunner, he goes every day with me to work. Every piece of equipment I run, if I’m in a tractor or a combine or a bulldozer, Gunner rides in there with me. I keep telling him every night, ‘All right, buddy, you’re going to be all right.’”

Steven “Steve” McBee Sr.’s kids are savoring every moment with their father before he begins his prison sentence. “We’re just spending as much time as we can with him and making sure that we prioritize family time [like] spending dinners over there with him and just leaning on one another for support,” Steven McBee Jr. […]

News broke in November 2024 that Steve Sr. pleaded guilty for his involvement in a multimillion-dollar fraud scam using federal crop insurance. In his plea deal, the Bravo star agreed to pay over $4,000 in restitution. He was later sentenced to two years behind bars and must self-surrender by December 1.

Before Steve Sr. begins his sentence, he spoke with ex-wife Kristi about bringing the pup to visitations.

“I don’t know [if dogs are allowed], but we’re going to find out,” Steve Sr. told People. “I don’t know if it’s going to be better or worse if he sees me.”

He further revealed that his family and farmhands alike will continue running the ranch in his absence.

“I literally have the best team of people I’ve ever had around me, and they are just genuinely the highest character people I’ve ever had work for me,” he stated. “So, I really feel good that things are going to move along smoothly and even grow while I’m gone. We just had a meeting with everybody, and I told them that sometimes when the leader goes away, it allows everyone to really flourish on who they are instead of them second-guessing. I’m okay with them making mistakes too, as long as they’re trying.”

The McBee sons, for their part, recently spoke to Us Weekly about how they were coping with their dad’s impending prison sentence.

“We’re just spending as much time as we can with him and making sure that we prioritize family time [like] spending dinners over there with him and just leaning on one another for support,” Steve Jr., 32, exclusively told Us at 2025 BravoCon earlier this month. “I think that’s the central theme of our show before my dad’s situation — and even more so now — is with family. You can get through anything 100 percent.”

As for Cole, 24, he told Us that the brothers are “trying to spend as much time as [they] can” before their dad’s departure.

“We’re gonna work through this together,” Cole added. “It’s a tough position in our life, but we’re going to get through anything.”
