The mother of late hockey player Matthew Gaudreau offered heartwarming words on social media following the recent birth of her new grandson.
Almost four months after Matthew and his brother, NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, were killed by an alleged drunk driver while biking, Matthewâs wife Madeline gave birth to the coupleâs first baby, a son named Tripp.

âTripp Matthew đ€đŠ Mommy & Daddyâs world,â she captioned the post, which also featured her holding baby Trippâs hand with a sign that read âHeâs Here.â
And in the comments, Matthew and Johnnyâs mom Jane shared her feelings of excitement over her new grandson.
âMom-Mom & Pop-Popâs hearts are overflowing with love for you, Tripp Matthew,â Jane wrote. âWe are so incredibly proud of you and your mommy and I know your Daddy is too!â

Jane also shared her daughter-in-lawâs photo on her Instagram Stories with the same sweet words for her infant grandson.
Matthew, 29, and Johnny, 31, were laid to rest on Sept. 9 at a joint funeral, where she and Johnnyâs widow Meredith gave emotional speeches honoring their late husbands, and Meredith revealed she is also pregnant.
A month later, Madeline had her baby shower and shared photos on Instagram of friends and family enjoying food and games at the party, which featured blue and white balloons as well as cloud- and âheavenâ-themed decor.
On Aug. 29 a little after 8 p.m., both Matthew and Johnny were killed when a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol struck and killed them while they were biking in Oldmans Township, N.J.Â
The driver responsible for the brothersâ deaths was recently indicted on multiple charges.Â
According to documents obtained by PEOPLE from the Salem County court, Sean M. Higgins, 44, was formally indicted by a grand jury on Dec. 11 for second-degree reckless vehicular homicide and first-degree aggravated manslaughter.
Higgins was also indicted on charges of fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence and second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
