âThis isnât journalism. This is bullying,â she said in a video shared to her Instagram March 3. âThe fact that adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices, itâs disturbing.â
The 21-year-old also called out critics for tearing women down just to drum up attention, saying, âWe always talk about supporting and uplifting young women, but when the time comes, it seems easier to tear them down for clicks. Disillusioned people canât handle seeing a girl become a woman on her terms, not theirs.â
And Millieâwho was 11 years old when she made her breakthrough as Eleven on season one of Netflixâs Stranger Thingsâcited her early rise to stardom as the reason for her unfair treatment in the public eye.
âI grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people canât seem to grow with me,â she continued. âInstead, they act like Iâm supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on Stranger Things season one. And because I donât, Iâm now a target.â
