Mark Consuelos reveals he’s undergoing toe surgery after delaying it for a year

Mark Consuelos has finally decided to stop dragging his feet.

The “Live with Kelly and Mark” co-host revealed Friday that he is set to undergo “major” toe surgery, telling viewers on air that he would be going under the knife following the show.

“Today’s the day,” Consuelos, 55, told his wife and co-host, Kelly Ripa. “I’ve been putting off this toe surgery for about a year.”

When Consuelos asked if she was going with him, Ripa, 55, confirmed she was, quipping, “I’m not resisting the opportunity to video … capture you coming out of your propofol haze.”

“That’s right. People say some funny, funny things,” Consuelos replied, before Ripa added, “I have you on video from your last foot surgery.”

The “Riverdale” alum admitted he was already feeling “a little loopy” because he hadn’t eaten anything since the day before, which Ripa called “strange” because she had “never heard of fasting for 24 hours before a surgery.”

“It’s dumb. … I just want to eat. I could be convinced to eat at any moment,” Consuelos said.

He then picked up a piece of paper and began reading off ways to care for a loved one following surgery, including “taking over some of their responsibilities.”

“We share responsibilities,” Consuelos said, prompting Ripa to joke, “Don’t worry, I’ll continue to do that.”

He then noted that Ripa would have to walk their dog, Lena, which he typically does over the weekend, as well as “be present during the recovery.”

“That means put your phone down. Take your AirPods out of your ears,” he added.

Another item on the list was reminding him why he was having the surgery, which Consuelos joked was so he could “play golf better.”

“Is that why you’re doing it?” Ripa asked, to which he replied, “No, it’s arthritic. It’s bad. I need help. It hurts.”

Ripa, for her part, had her own list of ways to “stay sane” following surgery, including reading, binge-watching shows on Netflix, journaling and crafting.

“I could teach you to knit if you want,” Ripa offered.

“I’m going to bedazzle my foot,” Consuelos said.

The “All My Children” actor has been on the other side of the surgery-recovery conversation before, when Ripa underwent a procedure of her own.

Ripa was absent from “Live” in July after undergoing gum graft surgery, which Consuelos said her dentist had recommended five years earlier.

“It’s painful,” Consuelos said at the time. “But she famously doesn’t feel pain. When she goes [to] the dentist, she doesn’t use the Novocaine. But this one hurts, so I know it’s bad.”
