Itâs time to defrost the Queen of Christmas â on Fortnite.
After emerging from an ice block that appeared on the Island a few days ago, Mariah Carey will bring her festive spirit â and holiday favorite âAll I Want for Christmas Is Youâ â to Winterfest until Jan. 7.
âMy Fortnite character is basically me with some different outfits, skins,â the âWe Belong Togetherâ artist, 55, tells PEOPLE. âIâm so excited about this. Itâs really cute.â
Fans will be able to celebrate the holidays with âreally cuteâ new outfits in the Shop, like Careyâs Santa suit inspired by the Merry Christmas album cover and a glamorous gold number inspired by the Emancipation of Mimi album cover.
While Careyâs Fotnite alter ego is a non-player character, gamers can âcelebrateâ with her.â
âShe runs, and she twirls. She does a little dance from the âAll I Want for Christmas Is Youâ music video from 2019, and for âAll I Want for Christmas Is Youâ as a jam track,â explains Carey.
According to the singing icon, her interest in Fortnite stems from her 13-year-old son, Moroccan, a.k.a. âRoc,â whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon.
âI was watching my son play Fortnite for the longest time, and then he taught me how to play,â says Carey. âItâs been cute little excursion figuring out if we were going to be able to do this [Fortnite collaboration] or not.â
After wrapping her Christmas Time Tour on Dec. 17 in Brooklyn, where she signed Rihannaâs breast, the âHeartbreakerâ performer also opens up to PEOPLE up about the future of her holiday shows.
âI really love doing it, I just need to schedule it a little bit differently because this year Iâd gotten sick just from being out there too long,â says Carey, who was forced to cancel three shows after she came down with the flu.
Carey, of course, added that her Christmas shows are something sheâll probably âalways do.â

The Grammy winner also revealed she isnât âsick ofâ Christmas at all â and sheâd love to cover âanother slow, sad songâ for the holidays.
âIâm in Aspen, and right now, âOh, Santaâ is playing over the speakers. And Iâm like, âI guess Iâm not sick of it,'â Carey laughs.
