The more Margot Robbie, the merrier.
The “Barbie” actress teamed up with Kylie Minogue for a new Chanel 25 handbag campaign that recreates the pop icon’s 2002 “Come Into My World” music video — with Michel Gondry, who directed the original, back behind the camera.
In the campaign, a parade of Robbies navigates a soundstage done up as a bustling Parisian sidewalk, each version of the actress carrying a Chanel 25 bag in a different color and size.
New Robbies appear on screen as the video progresses — much like Minogue did in the original.
While Gondry’s 2002 video was shot on an actual Paris intersection, the Chanel version trades the real backdrop for an LA soundstage, and swaps some of the original set pieces, like the laundromat for a librairie. The conceit remains the same, however.
Robbie pets a dog, wheels a bicycle and waves to Minogue herself, who pops up in a window wearing pink, echoing her look in the original clip.
“I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was so cool and clever — the in-camera trickery he’s so famous for,” Robbie told Vogue of the original video.
The collaboration is a long time in the making. Both Robbie and Minogue launched their careers on the Australian soap opera “Neighbours” — Minogue in the late 1980s, Robbie two decades later — and the actress’ very first concert was Minogue’s Fever tour in Sydney, where “Come Into My World” was one of the setlist highlights.
In 2023, Minogue even named Robbie as her dream pick to portray her in a biopic. This campaign may be the next best thing — though Robbie joked to Vogue that she’s grateful the gig didn’t require any musical chops.
“I can’t sing,” the actress said. “So I’m doing Kylie without having to sing and ruin it for everyone.”
Minogue told French content creator Lyas that the project felt like a natural extension of the original video’s DNA. “For me, it continues the cyclic feeling of the video,” she said. “I know Michel was inspired by the repetitive nature of the song, so here we are kind of doing another cycle.”
Robbie has been a Chanel brand ambassador since 2018 and, earlier this month, she and Minogue bptj sat front row at Chanel’s Fall 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week — appearances that, in hindsight, teased the collaboration to come.
