The brazen thief accused of making his way onto Kim Kardashian’s $60 million property and swiping a car has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
Trey Mendel was scheduled to be arraigned on felony charges of taking a vehicle without consent
and 2nd degree burglary Monday in Los Angeles. The vehicle, a 2017 Lexus GX 470, belonged to one of Kardashian’s staffers, according to legal documents.
Mendel’s public defender told the judge he had recently visited the 27-year-old accused crook, and he did not seem mentally well.
The judge then ordered Mendel receive a mental evaluation, the alleged thief did not appear in court, and his bail remains at $75,000. He’s scheduled to be back in court later this month after the evaluation.
Mendel was arrested Sunday after allegedly burglarizing Kardashian’s Hidden Hills estate and stealing a staffer’s vehicle for a joyride around the gated neighborhood, the California Post reported exclusively.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to the $60 million+ property around 3:45 p.m. and took the suspect into custody at the scene, law enforcement told The Post.
Kardashian and her four children were not home at the time and have been staying at a nearby rental while the mansion undergoes extensive renovations.
Kardashian and ex-husband Kanye West bought the estate for about $20 million in 2014 and spent years renovating it before moving in. The famously minimalist property, which Kardashian retained following their 2022 divorce, has since been valued at roughly $60 million.
Kardashian’s latest love interest, Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton, shared a series of never-before-seen snaps with Kardashian over the weekend.
