Mama June Shannon still reaches out to her late daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, even if she won’t get a response.

Ahead of the one year anniversary of Cardwell’s death, the Mama June: Family Crisis star, 45, shared how she has kept close to her late daughter in a emotional tribute on Facebook.

“It will be a year on Monday and we miss the hell out of Anna Marie Cardwell and would give my last penny to just talk to her and [for] her [to] be here for her girls,” she began her post on Dec. 3. “Grief honestly [hurts] at random times.”

Shannon explained that she’s had “no control” over feeling angry or crying over the loss. She added that the pain of Cardwell’s death has been especially “horrible” and losing her daughter has been more difficult than losing any other family member.

“Living in a house Anna passed in is so hard, not just on me but the whole family,” she continued. “But we have keep our promise we take her every where with us like she wanted and I will continue to do. We definitely have [kept] her memory alive and will always.”

Shannon also revealed that Cardwell was “still in our family group chat” and on her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird’s “car radio.”

“[I] just can’t and won’t delete any text and won’t ever take her out the chat, so sorry [to] who gets her number one day, u better not remove your self [sic],” she said.

On Dec. 9, 2023, Cardwell died after being diagnosed with stage four adrenal carcinoma in January of that year. She was 29 years old. At the time, Shannon announced the news in an Instagram post.

She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will will [sic] be updating y’all with more information as we get it today.”

She was surrounded by her sisters — Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Efird and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson — as well as her husband, Eldridge Toney, when she died.
