Gone are the days when Uber was just for car rides and food takeout.
Macaulay Culkin stars in Uber’s holiday initiative to provide users with all their seasonal needs — from Christmas trees to holiday carolers.
In the minute-long spot, the actor, 44, cozies up in a festively decorated living room as a voiceover narrates, “Macaulay Culkin sits by a warm crackling fire as he ponders his thoughts.”
Culkin says, “I can’t remember the last time I had the house to myself over the holidays” — a cheeky nod to his role as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
“He enjoys the peaceful bliss and then an urge awakens,” the voiceover continues. Culkin adds, “You know what? I’m hungry.”
The narrator explains that the star is using Uber Eats to satisfy his cravings but is surprised to see more than restaurants on the food delivery app.
“Uber Eats will deliver carolers to my door?” Culkin asks before excitedly clicking at his phone. “Sing to me.”
When the doorbell rings and Culkin opens the door, carolers immediately get into the lyrics of “Jingle Bells” and hand him his Uber Eats package.
“You too can enjoy the delight of carolers at your door on December the seventh,” the narrator explains before the father of two gives his seal of approval: “They’re pretty good.”
The actor shares sons Dakota, 3, and a 2-year-old whose name has not been publicly revealed with fiancée Brenda Song
Users can order carolers to their doorsteps on Saturday, Dec. 7, in select cities. The carolers will arrive to “deliver cheer along with the finest festive spirits,” according to a press release. Fans can access the musical drink experience via the “Carolers” store on the app.
The holiday cheer on demand doesn’t stop there! Uber Eats is also delivering real Christmas trees and holiday decor starting on Dec. 3, while supplies last.
“During the holidays, I’ve been left all by myself not one, not two, but three times. But I’m not by myself anymore,” Culkin said in a press release, explaining that he didn’t realize all the holiday offerings that the app offered, and finished with a note of gratitude. “Thanks for pretty much everything, Uber.”
