Though Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption’s love story didn’t make it onto season 8 of Love Is Blind, they left the pods engaged.

Kylie and Brian made a meaningful connection and left the pods engaged, though fans never got a chance to see the moment. While their journey on the hit Netflix reality show was cut short, the couple told the streamer that their love was still going strong.

“It felt almost like a weight off our shoulders,” Brian, 30, told Netflix’s Tudum of their engagement. “Now we can do our own thing and figure out our lives on our own.”

Kylie, 28, admitted that she was disappointed that producers chose not to follow their journey, thinking their relationship wouldn’t last.

“Obviously it did,” she said of their romance. “Ultimately, we went on Love Is Blind to find love — and we did just that. The experiment worked for us, and now we get to write our own story.”

After season 8 of Love Is Blind premiered, Brian and Kylie confirmed they were still together in a post shared to Instagram in February, giving fans the first glimpse at their love story.

“From the pods to reality—what a journey! Grateful for every moment, every lesson, and everyone I met along the way,” Brian and Kylie wrote in the caption of their joint post. “Love Is Blind—you were a wild, unforgettable ride.💕 #LoveIsBlind.”

The post included a carousel of images that featured the couple dressed to the nines as they posed in front Brian’s wine bar which was covered in snow.

The two later spoke to Tudum, where they shed more light on their romance and their early beginnings. When it came to their time inside the pods, Brian admitted that he knew that he had found something noteworthy after his very first pod date with Kylie.

“The connection felt really effortless. We had a very similar sense of humor and everything really flowed naturally,” he said. “After we aligned on the important aspects of life, we didn’t really take things too seriously and just had fun together.”

Kylie added, “We basically both [grew up] in the middle of nowhere, South Dakota, and come from farming families. It would’ve taken some catastrophe for us not to get out of there together.”

After their reveal, the two headed back to Minnesota — after adorably missing their flights together in the airport — and later took a trip to Mexico.

In the time since, they’ve wondered why their story wasn’t selected as Kylie admitted, “People are like, ‘Well, this couple must be boring,’ or, ‘Producers must not have seen it working out for them.’ But obviously it did … Sometimes [people question if] this is a real process. It definitely is.”

And regardless of the reason, the two are happy living their lives as an engaged couple on their own timeline.

“We don’t have a time constraint,” Kylie said. “We’re just letting things happen as they do and giving ourselves space to do things at whatever pace we choose.”
