Lindsey Vonn is back in action and healthier than ever, following her devastating crash at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics in February that left her in hospital for weeks.
The 41-year-old looked incredible in a series of vacation snaps posted to social media, which saw her soaking up the sun in the Mediterranean and enjoying time off.
In one photo, Lindsey was pictured standing on a paddleboard, clad in a tiny red bikini that showcased her enviable abs, as she smiled for the camera. Another picture featured the Olympian throwing up a peace sign as she prepared to partake in water sports, dressed in a black bikini and a life vest.
âBeen on the moveâŠâ she wrote in the caption, as her fans rushed to the comment section to share the love. âWhat a beautiful champion you are! Look at you go!!!â said one, while another added: âBeautiful inside and out.â A third wrote: âOn the board you look about 21!â while another chimed in: âLooking awesome.â
Lindseyâs devastating crash
Lindsey has come a long way since the horrific accident that left her with a complex tibia fracture and a broken ankle, both of which required several surgeries and months of rehab.
The champion retired from alpine skiing in 2019 due to extensive injuries, before making an incredible comeback in 2024. Just nine days before racing in the womenâs downhill final event at the Olympics, she ruptured her ACL.
At the final on February 8, Lindsey clipped a gate just 13 seconds into her run and had to be airlifted off the mountain due to her injuries. She almost lost her left leg due to compartment syndrome, which occurs when painful pressure builds up in the muscles and restricts blood flow.
âEverything was in pieces,â she said on Instagram. âCompartment syndrome means thereâs too much trauma in one area of the body, so thereâs too much blood, and it gets stuck. It crushes everything in the compartment; all the muscles, nerves, and tendons all kind of die.â
Thankfully, her doctor performed a fasciotomy, released the intense pressure and saved her leg.
Getting back on the horse
The blonde beauty told E! News in July that she still had âa long way to goâ in her recovery.
âI still have no ACL, so I need to fix that. I need to get all the metal out of my leg, and then weâll assess,â she told the outlet. âI may not have done everything that I wanted to do, but Iâve done a lot, and I have to be proud of myself for that.â Â
âI was so low; I just felt like no matter what I did, I wasnât making progress, and I was crying a lotâŠ[but] I think Iâve trusted myself more than I thought I could,â she continued.
âIn the end, when youâre recovering from something, there is no option; thereâs no failure in rehab, you have to keep doing it. Iâve stuck it out.â Lindsey hit a major milestone in March when she returned to the gym, and later shared her joy at being able to work out at full capacity in June.
âThe face I make when I can actually work out in the gym!â she wrote on social media. âMakes me so happy and excited I canât even put it into words!â
