Leonardo DiCaprio Seen Out Shopping for the ‘Perfect’ Diamond Necklace for His Mom: ‘It Was Sweet’ (Exclusive)

Leonardo DiCaprio is spoiling his loved ones for the holidays.

The actor, 50, was recently spotted shopping at VRAI in Los Angeles, where he picked out the perfect Christmas gift for his mom, Irmelin. A source tells PEOPLE that DiCaprio “took his time deciding between two different lab-grown diamond necklaces.”

“It was sweet, he wanted it to be perfect,” the source added.

For the outing, the Oscar winner sported a casual look of olive-green pants, a black t-shirt and black hoodie. He also wore sneakers, sunglasses and a black baseball cap.

VRAI, which has shops in New York City and L.A., features diamonds created in its own foundry in America’s Pacific West. The foundry is the world’s first certified zero-emission producer that utilizes 100 percent renewable energy to power reactors to grow diamonds, creating sustainable luxury.

DiCaprio joined Diamond Foundry as an investor in 2015.

VRAI has been worn by a wide range of celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Zoe Saldaña, Hailey Bieber and Emma Stone. The brand’s Solitaire Studs went viral when Taylor Swift was seen wearing them at Arrowhead Stadium while cheering on boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.

DiCaprio turned 50 in November and celebrated his milestone birthday with a star-studded bash.

A source told PEOPLE exclusively that the event drew guests such as Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire, Robin Thicke and April Love Geary, Odell Beckham Jr., Tyga, Teyana Taylor, Jamie Foxx, Bill Maher, Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, Paris Hilton, Cara Delevingne, Chris Rock, Kevin Connolly and Todd Phillips, along with DiCaprio’s parents, George DiCaprio and Irmelin Indenbirken.

According to the source, DiCaprio “had a family and friends dinner first, and then after was the big party.”
