Johnny Gaudreau’s widow, Meredith, is showing off their children’s Halloween costumes — and she revealed that the late NHL star picked out the outfits himself.
On Friday, Oct. 31, Meredith shared photos and videos to her Instagram Stories that featured her and Johnny’s children — daughter Noa, 2, and son Johnny Jr., 8 months — posing in their Halloween costumes with their cousins.
The Gaudreau kids each wore costumes inspired by Toy Story and Meredith also included the song “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” in her Stories post.
“Costumes Daddy wanted ❤️❤️,” she captioned the image.
Meredith has been candid about how her husband’s loss impacted their family. Last month, she shared Instagram posts showing off how Gaudreau’s Columbus Blue Jackets teammates all showed up to support Noa for her second birthday party.
Among the photos Meredith posted was a group picture of the Blue Jackets teammates posing next to a sign reading: “Happy 2nd Birthday Noa.”
Over the image, Meredith wrote on her Instagram Story, “We love you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
She added, “Really special group that will forever be family to me and our babies,” referring to Noa along with their son Johnny, 8 months, and their third child on the way. Last month, the widow revealed at his memorial service that she is nine weeks pregnant with their third baby.
Madeline Gadreau – the widow of Johnny’s brother Matthew who was killed in the same accident as the hockey player — has also been candid about how her husband’s death has impacted their family, announcing she is expecting their first child, a boy named Tripp.
In photos posted on Madeline’s Instagram in October, she shared how her friends and family members helped her celebrate with a baby shower.
“Baby Shower of my Dreams 🤍🕊️,” Madeline wrote at the time, alongside photos of the shower’s “heaven”-themed decor. “… My husband would have loved all the balloons. The way you were able to tie in my husband brought instant tears when I walked in.”

Johnny and Matthew were killed on the eve of their sister Katie Gaudreau’s wedding when a suspected drunk driver hit the brothers, who were riding their bicycles.
Johnny, an 11-year NHL star with the Calgary Flames and the Columbus Blue Jackets, was 31. Matthew, a former NCAA hockey star with Boston College who became an assistant head coach for their high school hockey team in recent years, was 29.
