Lamar Odom has checked into rehab after he was arrested for DUI earlier this month.
The retired NBA athlete made the âpersonal decisionâ to enter a 30-day treatment program at iRely Recovery to âreset and focus on his health,â his manager, Gina Rodriguez, tells Page Six.
âAfter a recent incident, he took a step back to reflect and address triggers heâs been dealing with,â Rodriguez shared. âHeâs taking full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his wellbeing.â
âLamar is grateful for the support and is committed to moving forward in a healthy, positive way,â she continued.
iRely Recovery helps those battling substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders âfind balance, own their recovery, and cultivate a new life designed for wellness and success,â according to its website.
The former Lakers star, 46, is seeking help to quit marijuana because heâs afraid his smoking could lead to doing hard drugs again, his manager also told TMZ, who was first to report the news.
The father of three was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Las Vegas on Jan. 17.
In addition to the DUI charge, heâs also facing two traffic violations in connection to the incident: driving more than 41+ miles per hour over the limit and improper lane change/failure to maintain lane, TMZ reported.
Odom has publicly struggled with drug addiction in the past.
He famously survived a near-fatal drug overdose in October 2015 after he was found unconscious at Nevadaâs Love Ranch brothel, and later claimed he didnât willingly ingest drugs that night and believed that the drugs were âslipped intoâ his drink.
Odom went into a coma as a result of the incident, leaving his then-wife KhloÚ Kardashian to step up and care for him.
Kardashian, who initially filed for divorce from Odom in December 2013 but temporarily rescinded the paperwork due to his health emergency, shared in an episode of âThe Kardashiansâ that aired last February that she hit him in the face after finding out he was using drugs again after his overdose.
âI punched you in the face, and I shattered everything in that house,â she recalled.
When Odom claimed he was not âeven thinkingâ when he broke his sobriety, Kardashian hit back, telling him that he âhad enough awareness to get a burner phone to call a drug dealerâ behind her back.
Back in May 2021, Odom said he was using ketamine to stay sober, receiving small doses of the anesthetic under supervision.
âI went to rehab and did some other things, but ketamine came into my life at the right time,â he shared on âGood Morning America.â
âIâm feeling amazing,â he continued at the time. âIâm alive, Iâm sober, Iâm happy.â
