Lady Louise Windsor had an action-packed weekend, as she partook in her first carriage driving competition of the season. Duchess Sophie’s daughter, who shares the same sporting passion as her beloved late grandfather, Prince Philip, competed in the Glebe Estate Carriage Driving Trials.

Before the event started, the young royal was seen circling the grounds in a casual yet chic look, which was worlds away from her traditional competing uniform.

Keeping it classic, Louise wore a simple white T-shirt, which she teamed with a pair of loose-fitting, bohemian-esque shorts featuring a light paisley print. Designed with a myriad of colours, the shorts were daring and eye-catching. The royal ladies don’t often wear shorts, but when they do, they tend to be tailored and slightly longer, rather like the Bermuda style, which offers more coverage.

Louise’s shorts were free-flowing and finished above the thigh. Appearing inconspicuous, she donned a pair of sunglasses and a cap.

In July, Louise officially graduated from the University of St Andrews. The royal family posted a series of official family keepsake graduation photographs, alongside her proud parents. Taken at University House following the ceremony, the 22-year-old looked the picture of elegance in the establishment’s official hooded graduation gown and white shirt, with her parents standing on either side.

Many remarked that Louise looked very much like her mother, Duchess Sophie, in the snaps, particularly as she seemed to have cut her long, slightly curled locks in favour of a swish blunt cut, with the wavy texture finishing just past her ears.

Louise debuted her new cut just one day after her mother stepped out with her own noticeably shorter style. Sophie’s blonde tresses have been shoulder-length for the past ten years, before she took the plunge and snipped her ends last month.

Both Louise and her mother have hair that appears fine in texture. A bob is the ideal style to opt for if you have hair like this, as shorter lengths instantly make hair look thicker. Blunt edges, like Sophie and Louise’s styles, are especially effective, as they create the illusion of density.
