Lady Gaga made her intentions known before her first date with Michael Polansky ever began.
The 38-year-old pop star and Oscar winner, who got engaged to Polansky in 2024, shared that she didn’t play games with her now-fiancé when they first met in person.
“I wanted marriage and kids more than anything,” Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, told Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan. “Michael flew to Vegas when I was doing my show to take me on our first date and before we even sat down, I said, ‘Do you want marriage and kids?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, I do.’ And I said, ‘Okay, great, do you want some champagne?’ And he said, ‘Sure.’ “
The reason she dropped such a big question so early in their romance? “I think I wanted him to know that I was a family girl,” the Joker: Folie à Deux star noted.
As for what made Polansky “the one,” Gaga couldn’t stop gushing over her man.
“He just loves the whole me,” she explained. “I learn a lot from him. He’s so supportive. He’s got an incredibly kind heart. He’s my best friend. Being in a partnership with your best friend I feel like is a huge blessing. I couldn’t imagine going through life with anyone but him, honestly.”
Polansky has helped co-write some of Gaga’s new music, a process that’s been natural for the couple.
“We do a lot together. He includes me in his business as well,” she said of the tech investor. “He’s really creative. He plays guitar. He’s a really beautiful musician as well. We have a really creative relationship. My album’s called Mayhem, but it’s also nice to be in the mayhem with someone else.”
But when it comes to wedding planning, Gaga didn’t give up any details, simply laughing and joking, “It’s going, it’s going.”

The couple were first romantically linked in 2020.
In January, Polansky opened up about the challenges of having a relationship with someone in the spotlight.
“Our relationship is probably a lot like everyone else’s. We just have to figure out how to do some of it in public,” Polansky told Elle. “That makes it even more important for us to have strong friendships and close family relationships. We find normalcy where we can.”
