Kelly Osbourne forced to respond to ‘cruel’ comments about her new look at BRITs

Kelly Osbourne joined her mother, Sharon Osbourne, at the BRIT Awards on Saturday night, but the mother-daughter outing was soured by comments from fans that the 41-year-old was forced to address after the show aired live on ITV.

“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most,” Kelly penned on her Instagram Stories.

“None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way.”

Kelly reacts to fan comments

The former star of The Osbournes reacted to the harsh comments that appeared on social media during the ceremony, calling her frame “skeletal” after she appeared to have lost weight.

On the night, Kelly walked the red carpet alongside her former X Factor star mum, wearing a slinky black gown, a feathered shawl, and stacked necklaces, including one featuring an ‘O’, presumably a tribute to her father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on 22 July 2025.

Later in the night, Kelly made an appearance on stage alongside Sharon at the awards, which were hosted at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester. Together, they accepted the posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the late Black Sabbath frontman.

An emotional Sharon said: “If Ozzy was here tonight with us, he’d be showing us that gorgeous smile, and I know he would be so proud to receive this from the country he loved. 

“He may not be here, but he left us an amazing body of work that will never be forgotten by the country that made him.”

It came amid a performance led by Robbie Williams and Ozzy’s former tour mates, Adam Wakeman, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde.

The group performed an arrangement of Ozzy’s 1991 hit ‘No More Tears’, which Sharon curated. The BRITs organisation confirmed that Sharon had personally invited Robbie to take part, as a “long-standing fan of the music, and friend of the Osbourne family.”

Ozzy Osbourne’s passing

The heavy metal music legend passed away from a heart attack last year. Shortly after his death, Sharon and Kelly, along with Kelly’s brother Jack Osbourne, viewed tributes to the late star from fans at Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge as his funeral cortege traveled through his home city of Birmingham.

The ‘Prince of Darkness’, as he was known, is survived by Kelly and Jack, as well as his children, Aimee, Jessica, Louis, and Elliot. He shared Jessica and Louis with his ex-wife, Thelma Riley, and he adopted her son Elliot from a previous relationship.
