Kathy Griffin shared that her divorce from Randy Bick has been taking its toll on her.
“The divorce is what’s kicking my ass mentally,” Griffin, 63, revealed in an interview with Page Six published on Saturday, October 19. “I thought I was going to be with this guy forever. I’m heartbroken, I admit it.”
She added, “I just didn’t think I’d be alone at this stage of the game, but hey, that’s on me. And I guess, I obviously have [to take] full responsibility.”
Despite her heartbreak, Griffin added, “I know it’s cliché. I wish him the best. I hope he meets somebody else. He just wasn’t the right guy for me. But he’ll be good for somebody else.”
Griffin and Bick, who is 18 years her junior, began dating in 2011, but broke up for the first time in 2018 for a brief period.
“God help me, but I’m gonna be one of those people who announces a break up,” Griffin shared via X at the time. “After 7 years, Randy and I have decided to part ways. It’s not acrimonious and I will always adore him.”
The comedian even shared in 2016 that she didn’t think her and Bick’s relationship would last when they first started dating.
“I thought he was just a man-whore, if you will,” she admitted to People at the time. “So yeah, we’ve been together five years now, and we have a great time, and he’s very sweet and very mellow. He’s like a regular guy, you know, he’s like a real guy. He’s not like a Hollywood guy.”
The pair reunited in 2019 and tied the knot on January 1, 2020, in a ceremony officiated by Lily Tomlin. However, Griffin filed for divorce from Bick in December 2023 after four years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
According to documents obtained by Us Weekly in March, Griffin had been unable to locate Bick to deliver the divorce papers to him after he left their shared home at her request. The Emmy winner even went so far as to hire a private investigator to locate her ex, but a status conference brief claimed “this too has been unsuccessful.”
“[Griffin] will make further attempts to locate [Bick] and will now take steps to enter his default,” the documents stated.
Earlier this year, Griffin declared “F— Valentine’s Day” amid her ongoing divorce, writing via X in February, “I’m getting divorced. F–k Valentine’s Day and f–k all of you. Did I say that? Thank God I have three shows this weekend. I’m going to make every member of the audience my personal Valentine regardless of sexual orientation.”
