While cosmetic procedures and weight loss drugs are all the rage, Kate Winslet is all about aging gracefully.

“Oh, it’s terrifying. I think, ‘No, not you! Why?’” Winslet, 50, told The Times of London in a Saturday, December 6, profile, detailing her inner monologue when she sees women saving up to get Botox or other “s*** they put in their lips.”

Winslet, meanwhile, revealed that she “hasn’t got anything” done or injected into her face.

“My favorite thing is when your hands get old,” the Oscar winner mused to the outlet. “That’s life, in your hands. Some of the most beautiful women I know are over 70 and what upsets me is that young women have no concept of what being beautiful actually is.”

Kate Winslet is not afraid to be herself in Hollywood. Winslet, 48, opened up to Hoda Kotb on the Today show about staying true to her identity after more than two decades in the spotlight. “You know, it’s really interesting how much [the industry] has changed,” she told Kotb, 59, on Monday, February 26, while […]

According to Winslet, she believes individuals overindulging via cosmetic procedures might be “scared to be [themselves].”

“What idea of perfection are people aspiring to? I blame social media and its effect on mental health,” she stated. “It is devastating. If a person’s self-esteem is so bound up in how they look it’s frightening, and it’s puzzling because I have moments when I think it’s better, when I look at actresses at events dressed how they want.”

While Winslet acknowledged that more stars do get a choice in red carpet attire, there is also a growing trend of individuals using weight loss drugs to slim down. (GLP-1s like Ozempic or Wegovy are typically prescribed for people with weight-loss conditions and aren’t approved for casual weight loss.)

“It’s so varied. Some are making choices to be themselves, others do everything they can to not be themselves,” Winslet said. “And do they know what they are putting in? The disregard for one’s health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever. It is f***ing chaos out there.”

Kate Winslet is not on board with Ozempic. The Titanic actress, 48, shared her thoughts on the weight loss drug in an interview with The New York Times Magazine published on Monday, March 3, admitting she wasn’t fully familiar with its use. “I actually don’t know what Ozempic is,” Winslet claimed. “All I know is […]

The British actress further praised her current and past costars who feel the same, including Goodbye June’s Helen Mirren, Toni Collette and Andrea Riseborough, as well as Avatar colleague Sigourney Weaver.

“We have to keep being real,” Winslet added.

Winslet has previously been candid about how prevalent body dysmorphia is in Hollywood, recalling when she was publicly shamed for her weight during her Titanic press tour in the late 1990s.

“It’s absolutely appalling. What kind of a person must they be to do something like that to a young actress who’s just trying to figure it out?” Winslet emotionally recalled during an appearance on 60 Minutes in December 2024, revealing how she bit back at the critics. “I let them have it. I said, ‘I hope this haunts you.’”

She added at the time, “It was a great moment because it wasn’t just for me. It was for all those people who were subjected to that level of harassment. It was horrific, it was really bad.”

Since then, Winslet learned to develop an “armor” so critical comments won’t faze her.

“People say, ‘Oh, you were so brave for this role. You didn’t wear any makeup. You had wrinkles,’” she said on 60 Minutes, specifically referring to her recent role as photographer Elizabeth Miller in Lee. “Do we say to the men, ‘Oh, you were so brave for this role. You grew a beard?’ No. We don’t. … It’s not brave. It’s playing the part.”
