The Princess of Wales may have been representing the royal family at Sunday’s Easter service, but she was also firmly in mother mode.
At one point, she was seen holding hands with her daughter, Princess Charlotte, 10, and also showed support for her sons, Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, seven.
Youngest son Louis appeared to be on his very best behaviour, shaking hands with the Dean of Windsor and obediently walking alongside his family to and from St George’s Chapel.
Doting mother Kate, 44, was clearly very proud of him and was seen placing a supportive hand on his back to encourage him to keep going. The sweet moment was a subtle gesture as they waited outside the church, but it proved their close bond.
Kate gazed fondly down at Louis as he showed off his impeccable manners while wearing a very smart navy double-breasted suit to match brother George and father Prince William.
On his best behaviour – ever!
Louis, who is the youngest of the Wales children, has long been renowned for his cheeky antics at public events, while older siblings George and Charlotte are typically more composed.
For example, at the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, he was seen pulling a hilarious string of faces, even sticking his tongue out at Kate and placing his hand over her mouth. Charlotte was even forced to give him a talking to when he waved too much during a carriage procession.
During Trooping The Colour, he was pictured with his hands over his ears as the Spitfires went past, with his grandmother looking greatly amused beside him.
But on Sunday, he surprised onlookers with a perfect show of behaviour, with royal fans gushing that he was looking “so grown up”. Other delighted fans said he was “so well-mannered” and “charming”.
Kate and Louis’s sweet bond
The Princess and Louis will often sit next to each other for public events, such as her ‘Together at Christmas’ carol concert – perhaps so Kate can keep a watchful eye on him.
Their sweet bond was displayed at the VE Day flypast in 2025, with Kate laughing as her son looked up in awe at the planes, putting on a very animated display.
Kate even has an affectionate nickname for her son – although the public doesn’t get to hear it very often.
While taking part in the Big Help Out in 2023, Louis joined the scouts in toasting marshmallows over a campfire, during which Kate remarked: “Pop that in the fire, Loubugs.” Meanwhile, in her cancer recovery video in 2024, she instructed: “Lou-bugs, you lead the way,” as the family walked through the woods.
Louis is often said to take after Kate and his grandfather, Michael Middleton, with royal fans often gushing over the close resemblance between them.
