The Princess of Wales has been embracing her royal duties since she returned to full-time work following her cancer treatment.
She has even been abroad, travelling to Italy earlier this year, and there is increasing speculation that she will be joining her husband, Prince William, when he heads to India in November.
However, in her early days as a member of the royal family, Kate found it “difficult” to find her voice. But as she’s become a more established member of the family, this is now coming to her a lot easier.
Speaking exclusively to HELLO!, Simon Vigar, a BBC royal commentator and the author of The Four Wives of Windsor, said: “I think Catherine is definitely more confident now, and it’s an overused word, but she’s more authentic in the public statements.
“They’re all her own words. What she’s doing now, and we’ve noticed in the narration that she’s done for the nature videos as well, rather than a piece to camera, which she’s much more comfortable with.
“I mean, it’s no secret she found it difficult to start with. She’s a lot better at it now. I think it’s terrible what happened two years ago, but that treatment is over now, and I think she’s really blossomed. The Three Peaks Challenge was great. I mean, she’s obviously physically strong, but it was about paying it back and fundraising for the Royal Marsden, which she went to visit recently.”
Simon concluded by saying: “So I think she is more confident, and clearly she is crucial to the future of the monarchy.”
Princess Kate’s recent outings
The royal mum-of-three was last seen on Friday when she made an unexpected visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she was treated for her cancer back in 2024.
She spoke to patient Sam Suriakumar, 41, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour six years ago, and has two daughters, aged five and three, telling him: “It’s amazing how resilient you can be.”
Kate announced she had cancer in an emotional video in March 2024, just weeks apart from her father-in-law, King Charles, receiving a global outpouring of support.
The future Queen, who is joint Royal Marsden patron with William, also spoke to Mike Collett, 74, who has been treated for head and neck cancer. He explained that the cancer had damaged his vocal cords and windpipe, leading to physical and mental challenges and the grief of losing his voice.

She continued: “Something so primitive like breath becomes so precious. The psychological impact that might have, the vulnerability to something so essential. And the ability to be able to communicate and share your story.”
