Kate Hudson has been happily engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa since September 2021. But despite five years of wearing her engagement ring, the Glass Onion star is admitting that walking down the aisle remains far easier said than done.

Speaking candidly with her brother Oliver Hudson on their popular podcast, Sibling Revelry, the 47-year-old actress opened up about the reality of planning her nuptials.

Despite boasting an estimated net worth of $80 million, Kate confessed that the sheer scale — and eye-watering expense — of putting on a wedding has left her with serious cold feet.

They’ve been engaged for five years

Kate opened up to podcast guests Joey and Hunter King about the endless dilemmas of wedding guest lists and revealed that she and Danny simply cannot reach a middle ground.

“I still am not married. I’m just engaged. And I keep thinking about [the] wedding and what are we going to do,” Kate admitted. “Every time we started thinking about who we have to invite and Danny’s like, ‘I just want a small wedding.’ Our family alone is like 50 people.”

Between her famous mother Goldie Hawn, stepdad Kurt Russell, brother Oliver, half-brother Wyatt Russell and a sprawling network of extended relatives, trimming down the guest list is a logistical nightmare.

“We’ve got, like, a million kids. There’s a million uncles and aunts and cousins,” she said with a laugh.

Kate admits they don’t want to spend the money

While fans might assume a Hollywood A-lister wouldn’t blink at venue quotes or floral bills, Kate surprised listeners by saying that wedding inflation stresses her out just as much as it does anyone else.

“That’s part of why I don’t want to get married,” she confessed. “It’s too expensive.”

Goldie and Kurt never tied the knot

Kate was previously married to rocker Chris Robinson, with whom she shares her son Ryder, and she was engaged to Muse musician Matt Bellamy, who is the father of her son Bingham.

But the hesitation to rush to the altar might also run in the family. Goldie and Kurt have famously enjoyed one of Hollywood’s longest and happiest romantic partnerships for over 40 years without ever tying the knot.
