When it comes to what to wear to work in the summer, I’m stumped. Everything feels too heavy or hot, or far too skimpy for the office. But Kate Garraway’s latest Good Morning Britain outfit just gave me the best summer workwear inspiration.

On Monday’s show, the ITV broadcaster looked effortlessly smart in a ruffled, blue blouse paired with a white pencil skirt. With the heatwave making dressing unbearable, this top is actually ideal for those 30C+ temperatures – because it’s breezy, lightweight and incredible cooling.

  • Kate Garraway hosts Good Morning Britain on weekdays.
  • The TV star wore a ruffled blue blouse and white pencil skirt on Monday’s show.
  • Kate’s stylist revealed the blouse is from M&S, retailing for £28.

Styled by Debbie Dresses, the blouse is an absolute steal, costing just £28. It looks far more expensive than it’s price tag, thanks to the pretty detailing and cornflower blue shade.

Kate leaned into a more smart office style, adding a white pencil skirt and heels to the blouse. But if your office is a little more relaxed, swap the skirt for a pair of wide leg linen trousers in cream or white, or even a pair of tailored Bermuda shorts in a neutral shade.

Come autumn, the blouse could be tucked into smart black jeans or trousers, or worn more casually with blue denim; I love the look of cornflower blue teamed with denim, giving a tonal look that’s not double denim.

The relaxed fit is flattering on every figure, even if you have a larger bust – the ruffle detailing is a great concealer or it can actually give the illusion of a bigger top half. It’s drapey, which is sexy without being too OTT, and cut to a regular fit.

I love the elasticated cuffs, creating a romantic blouson sleeve style and a little different to a regular blouse. It also adds to the airy feel of the top.

Currently available in sizes 8 – 24, M&S customers have commented that it fits true to size so I’d suggest taking your regular sizing.

Most M&S shoppers who have bought the blouse wrote in reviews that it’s “comfortable”, “stylish” and “easy to wear”. One commented that it’s “lightweight” and that they received endless compliments wearing it. Others remarked on how easily it can be dressed up and down.

Kate’s Latest Good Morning Britain Outfits

As always, Kate’s ability to find a flattering, office-appropriate outfit is worth noting; never looking too stuffy or formal, she hits the right note between smart and stylish.

I loved her red pencil dress, worn last week on the show. The flattering pencil fit silhouette is not only gorgeous, but the stretch material it was made from would make it super comfortable. I loved the bow detailing at the neck, adding a little difference to a classic pencil dress. Kate’s exact dress is currently on sale at Karen Millen, reduced to £137 from £220 and it comes in mustard yellow or aqua blue too.

Another classic Kate look was another dress from Karen Millen, the stunning Asymmetric Knit Midi Dress in the sweetest baby blue. Reduced to £119, the dress is made from a structured knit fabric which skims the body – the elegant high neck and longer sleeves give it an even more timeless aesthetic.

Kate ditched the dresses on Thursday for a summery yellow suit, which is so on-trend right now. She wore the pieces together, proving that suits are anything but boring. Turning to Karen Millen once again, the whole suit will set you back £136 as it’s on sale – bargain.
