John Mulaney and Olivia Munn enjoyed a fun date night at SNL50: The Anniversary Special!

On Sunday, Feb. 16, the couple attended the star-studded event in New York City to celebrate the iconic show’s milestone. Although she skipped the red carpet, Munn was spotted sitting in the audience next to Fred Armisen during the special to support her husband, who wrote for SNL from 2008 to 2013.

The pair later attended the afterparty, held at The Plaza Hotel.

During the show, Mulaney, 42, joined Steve Martin for the opening monologue, kicking off the hours-long episode and prompting huge cheers from the audience.

“I didn’t know you were even gonna be here!” Martin, 79, said to Mulaney, who quipped, “You would if you’d ever come to rehearsal.”

Mulaney went on to poke fun at Martin by congratulating him on a slew of awards and nominations he did not receive, highlighting the fact that he went unrecognized at several awards shows this year.

The stand-up comedian then shifted his focus to the audience, joking that it was filled with “some of the most difficult people I have ever met in my entire life.”

He later returned to the stage to perform a Broadway skit, which he has become known for throughout his many appearances on the show. He was joined by Pete Davidson, David Spade, Maya Rudolph, Adam Driver, Nathan Lane, Kevin Costner, Lin Manuel-Miranda and many more as they paid tribute to New York City’s storied past throughout the last 50 years.

Mulaney and Munn’s last public date night was at the SNL 50th anniversary concert at Radio City Music Hall on Friday, Feb. 14.

Before that, they hadn’t made a high-profile appearance together since October 2024 at InStyle’s inaugural Imagemaker Awards, where he presented her with the Woman of Impact Award. The honor is bestowed on a celebrity that uses their platform “to bring attention to a cause close to their heart and create lasting change,” InStyle wrote in the awards announcement.

PEOPLE first reported Mulaney and Munn’s relationship in May 2021. That September, Mulaney revealed during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers that he and Munn were expecting a child together.

Their son, Malcolm, was born on Nov. 24, 2021, and they later announced they had welcomed their second child, a daughter named Mei, via gestational surrogate on Sept. 14. A couple of months later, he mentioned the new addition to the family during his sixth SNL hosting gig.

“I hope you’ve been great, I’ve been great,” the comedian said in his November monologue. “My wife and I just welcomed a baby girl into our family.”

In July 2024, the couple married in an intimate ceremony at a friend’s home in New York state, a source close to Mulaney told PEOPLE at the time. Malcolm and a witness were the only loved ones in attendance at the nuptials. Sam Waterston, Munn’s The Newsroom costar, officiated.
