Joey Lawrence is officially a boy dad after his wife, Samantha Cope, gave birth to their son.
“Our newest member has arrived,” Cope wrote via Instagram on Thursday, April 9. “What an absolute blessing you are baby boy! It will be an Easter Weekend to remember forever.”
Cope gave birth on Monday, April 6, to a baby boy she and Lawrence named Ford.
Lawrence and Cope are already the parents of daughter Dylan, whom they welcomed in January 2023. The actor also shares daughters Charleston and Liberty — born in 2006 and 2010, respectively — with ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson.
Lawrence and Cope hit it off after meeting on the set of the Lifetime movie My Husband’s Secret Brother. In August 2021, Us Weekly exclusively broke the news of their engagement.
“So, we met there and out of nowhere, you know, it was a crazy year and a half for everybody, obviously the whole world,” he exclusively told Us at the time, referencing the COVID pandemic. “Then when you least expect [it], amazing things happen and meeting her has just been really the greatest thing ever.”
The pair ultimately tied the knot in May 2022. Lawrence and Cope quietly separated in June 2024, and she subsequently filed for divorce that August. By December, however, the two were back together.
“Every situation will make you stronger if you’re willing to put the work in,” Lawrence told Us in August 2025. “Life is a very imperfect, bumpy journey. We make all of our mistakes down here, I really do believe that. I know that for a fact because I’ve made a ton and continue to make mistakes.”
While Lawrence insisted he makes an effort “to put the work in” every day with “all of my relationships,” he emphasized his special focus on his connection with Cope.
“I love her to death, and we’re just spending every day just working away at it,” he said. “It feels good to put the work in and see results from that.”
Three months later, Lawrence and Cope revealed at the live taping of Dancing With the Stars’ 20th Birthday Party episode that they were expecting their second baby. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the time, he hinted the pregnancy came as a surprise while joking about his and Cope’s matching outfits.
“Nothing is planned. Not even this,” he said, pointing to Cope’s baby bump. “This isn’t planned.”
The couple also divulged to the outlet that they were expecting a son. After becoming a girl dad three times over, Lawrence expressed the entire family’s delight about adding a baby boy to their brood.
“I got the older girls and then we have our little one, Dylan, who is 3, and then we got this little guy,” he noted. “They are so excited. This one is a boy — first one ever — so everyone is excited that they are going to have a little brother. That is what is so cool.”
