Jenny McCarthy is in the process of healing after getting a bad infection that caused her teeth to fall out.
McCarthy revealed that she underwent nine mouth surgeries this year alone in a new interview with People, published Wednesday.
“I had one infection that turned into another and another, and then I had these growths show up on my eyeballs,” she explained, adding, “My teeth were falling out, implants falling out.”
McCarthy, 53, explained that doctors discovered that she had a deep bone infection after chipping into her jawbone.
“I’ve been on antibiotics for a year, and have had to eat soft foods only,” she said.
The “Santa Baby” actress shared a photo of her and husband Donnie Wahlberg’s holiday card, in which she looked trim in a red bikini. McCarthy attributed her slender frame to not being able to really eat because of a mouthful of stitches.
“I had two more mouth surgeries even after that photo was taken,” she said, adding, “I’ve been pretty unlucky.”
Fortunately, McCarthy shared that she is now “able to chew again.”
“But every time we thought it had cleared up, it came back again, I’d be in massive pain with my jaw swelling up, and at the same time I was getting these growths popping up on my eyeballs,” she said.
“People should actually feel a little sorry for me!”
Now that she’s on the mend, McCarthy is looking forward to spending more time with Wahlberg.
“It’s been a little tricky-wicky getting together,” she said, noting that she’s been busy shooting “The Masked Singer” in Los Angeles while Wahlberg’s been in Canada for his police drama, “Boston Blue.”
“So it’s been tricky and difficult, which means Thanksgiving and Christmas will mean more to us than ever this year. It’s just me and him, at home in Chicago, me cooking a bird, and enjoying each other.”
She’s also excited to finally be able to eat all the festive holiday dishes.
“I think I’m past the storm,” she said, sharing, “I’m about to chow down!”
McCarthy previously told Page Six that she and Wahlberg both have a family tradition of making French’s green bean casserole on the holidays.
“It doesn’t surprise me that Donnie and I grew up with it, loved it, because we both grew up on a budget,” she told us in 2019.
“It was just something our families both had to have at our dinner table. So we continued the tradition with our combined families.”
