Jennifer Lopez reveals her next boyfriend needs to accept her for who she is and respect her.
The superstar performed her 1999 hit âIf You Had My Loveâ at her show in Las Vegas Saturday night and reflected on her songâs lyrics more than two decades laters â and after a string of failed high-profile romances, including her divorce from Ben Affleck.
âWhen I first sang it, I was very young,â she told the audience in video shared on social media from her show. âAnd I sang it with a lot of hope.â
âBut Iâve also sang it over the years, Iâve sang it while I was sad,â she continued. âAnd Iâve sang it when I was happy. But now, today, you know how I sing it? I sing it in power.â
âBecause the truth is, if you wanted to have my love, you would have to earn it.â she said as her fans cheered loudly. âYou would have to treat me right. You would have to respect me.â
âYouâd have to accept me for all that I am,â she continued. âYouâd have to love me if you wanted my love.â
Lopez, 56, went on to note that she knew love was âa complicated thing.â
âYou canât have love without heartbreak,â she shared. âYou canât. Thatâs what you sign up for.â
Lopez hasnât been shy about poking fun at her divorce from Affleck, 53, alluding to it during opening night of her new Vegas residency.
Referencing her previous âJennifer Lopez: All I Haveâ residency, Lopez asked her fans, âIt went by in a blink, didnât it, for those of you who were there on opening night 10 years ago?â
âAnd, you know, at that time Iâd only been married twice,â she joked.
The audience laughed as Lopez corrected herself.
âThatâs not true. It was only once. Felt like twice. Iâm just kidding,â she quipped.
âItâs over and we just, boom, and itâs fine. Itâs all good,â the pop star continued. âThe good news is that Iâm learning and Iâm growing. Weâre in our happy era right now.â
Lopez has been married four times.
The âHustlersâ actress was married to Cuban waiter Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998; to dancer Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003; to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014; and to Ben Affleck from 2022 to 2025.
