Jennifer Lopez showcased her athletic figure in a sizzling gym selfie posted to Instagram on Tuesday, in which she wore a fitted purple set while working out. The 56-year-old looked incredible in the purple leggings, purple sports bra and matching long-sleeved shirt, which she pulled up to reveal her toned abs.
Jennifer wore her long brunette hair out and opted for minimal makeup as she snapped the photo mid-workout. She also added a picture of a highlighted quote, which read: âThe goal is simple. Better than yesterday. Every. Single. Day.â
âKeep it simple,â she wrote in the caption, as fans rushed to the comment section to share the love. âWooooowooooow,â one fan wrote, while another added: âOkayyyyy mama.â
âBody goals,â a third chimed in, while a fourth said: âSuch an inspiration.â Despite the loving comments, Jennifer has received backlash in the past for her outfits, which some critics deemed inappropriate.
âThank God Iâve been doing this a long time. I can just ignore a lot of it. It really doesnât mean [anything]. I tell my kids that all the time,â she said onstage during her tour.
âI do laugh at some of the things sometimes, because they do say funny things too. âWhy she always dressed that way? Why donât she dress her age? Why she always naked?â And I said, âIf you had this booty, youâd be naked too,'â she quipped.

âItâs no secret that fitness is a very important part of my life,â she explained. âI think thereâs a positive correlation between exercise and mental health. When you find a good balance through determination and focus, weâre naturally pushing to be the best version of ourselves.â
âVery rarely will I skip my workout,â she added. âSometimes, I work too late the night before, and Iâm like, âUgh, I canât do this.â But I tell myself, âJust do it. Itâs only an hour.â Itâs just talking yourself off the ledge of being a lazy bum.âÂ
Another way that Jennifer stays in shape is by prioritizing sleep in her life. âGet seven to nine hours of sleep, like carve it out,â she told Today. âNow, the other hours of the day? Iâm going full speed. Iâm full speed on the rest. But when I lie down, Iâm like, âOkay, I need my rest.â And when I donât get it, somethingâs gonna suffer. You know, it will, and Iâve learned that.â
As for her diet, the mom of two doesnât restrict herself, but eats everything in moderation. âProtein is my go-to,â she told Us Weekly. âIt fills me up and keeps me full longer. Itâs a great muscle fuel.â
âWe eat a lot of green vegetables, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and kale,â she continued. âI love to cook a lot of stuff. I love cooking Puerto Rican food because thatâs what I grew up on.â
