Jenna Bush Hager shared a gruesome photo of her dislocated middle finger during the March 24 episode of Today with Jenna and Friends — and shared that she has a pretty solid track record of breaking and fracturing her fingers.
“Y’all may notice that I’m wearing a splint,” said Jenna, 43, who joked to her co-host, younger sister Barbara Bush, 41, “I may have you sign [it] during the commercial break.”
“Oh, I’d love to. What happened, Sissie?” Barbara asked.
“I unfortunately dislocated my middle finger,” Jenna said. Although she didn’t elaborate on how she broke her finger, she shared that the injury was graphic and producers needed to “put a warning on, because we’re going to show the picture.”
Barbara added, “If you’re queasy, don’t look at your television for the photo,” which showed her middle finger sticking out at an unnatural angle in two joints.
“Now some people may think, ‘Wow, that’s the first time something’s ever happened to your finger,’ ” Jenna said, prompting Barbara to quip, “But they would be wrong”— an apparent reference to how, in February, Hager sparked rumors of marital trouble when she stopped wearing her wedding ring. That was due to breaking her ring finger — but as Jenna went on to explain, she’s no stranger to injuring her digits.
“In the X-ray the guy said, ‘Seems like you have a lot of hairline fractures in this finger,’ ” Jenna said. “And I said, ‘Well, now I’ve broken three of my 10 fingers.”

“Things come in threes, so hopefully this is it for you,” said Barbara, referencing that her sister also broke a finger in fourth grade. And because she had a “strong track record of claiming you were injured” even when she wasn’t, her family didn’t always believe that she’d hurt herself.
“Sometimes I was,” Jenna said.
“Yes, you were waving out the window at Mom [former First Lady Laura Bush] and Dad (former President George W. Bush] and me,” Barbara recalled. “We didn’t believe you. We thought you were [crying] wolf because you like attention.”
That time, Jenna said, “I actually had broken my other middle finger. They just wanted to match.”
“Perfect,” Barbara said, referring her latest broken middle finger. “They’re symmetrical.”
