Jason Kelce is opening up about the perils of fame.
The former Philadelphia Eagles center, 38, told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published on Monday, December 22, that being in the spotlight has been a tough transition for him, wife Kylie Kelce and their children.
“You know, I’m all over television, and my face, in particular, is much more out there,” he said. “In a lot of ways, going out into public is much different for not just me but my wife, my whole family. But we really do try to live as much of a normal life as we can, which is increasingly becoming harder. We’re finding ways to get it done. We go to Disney World and we’re still walking around. We might take a few more pictures in certain areas.”
Jason and Kylie, 33, share four daughters: Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and 8-month-old Finnley.
Both Jason and Kylie have become household names with their popular podcasts — “New Heights,” which Jason cohosts with brother Travis Kelce, and Kylie’s “Not Gonna Lie” — and because of Travis’ high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift.
In the same interview, Jason hinted at taking his shirt off at Travis and Taylor’s upcoming wedding. (The power couple announced their engagement in August.)
Jason told the Wall Street Journal that he has a penchant for taking his shirt off at weddings and did not rule out doing the same at his brother’s wedding ceremony.
“Listen, the first time I met Taylor was at a Buffalo Bills game. I jumped out of a suite. She invites us back to things now,” he said. “We’ll see if the shirt stays on or off. I think if my shirt comes off, Kylie will be very upset about that.”
Jason also praised Taylor, 36, for her work ethic and being a savvy businesswoman.
“We’ve tried to keep a lot of that out of the relationship. I just enjoy her being my brother’s soon-to-be wife, and aunt to my kids, and we try to leave that relationship where it should be, there,” he said.
Jason continued, “But yeah, watching her operate, watching her savviness in getting her entire music catalogue back, watching how she has toured the globe while also writing an entire new album, the level at which she takes control over a lot of different aspects but also allowing people to be experts in their own right, I think that a lot of that stuff is fun to watch.”
Earlier this month, Jason teased giving a best man speech at his brother’s wedding, telling Good Morning America, “Time will tell if there is one or anything like that. I’ve been given no details on that front, but however I’m involved, I’ll be happy to be. I’m just happy for those two.”
Jason also recently opened up about Kylie experiencing a pregnancy loss seven years ago.
“I remember going out to my truck in the middle of practice and meetings, overcome with grief and emotion,” Jason said while accepting the March of Dimes Sports Achievement Award at the 43rd Annual Sports Luncheon in New York City on December 3.
“You really find out in moments like those how awesome sports are [and] how awesome teams are,” he continued. “There are so many people that shared with me, coaches, teammates, people within the Eagles building, friends of ours, and you really find out how prevalent this actually is. How often miscarriages happen. And it’s something that I think, a lot of times, often doesn’t get said and spoken about.”
