Jane Fonda may be 87 years old, but sheâs not feeling the decades.
Fonda spoke with The New York Times about her exercise routines, personal style and thoughts on aging in an article regarding her new sneaker campaign with the brand Golden Goose published Tuesday, Feb. 18. âI donât feel like an old person. Iâm much younger than I was when I was in my 20s, in all the ways that matter,â she said, after speaking to her fondness for the brandâs sneakers and working out with a trainer every day.
âSo it never occurred to me with this campaign, âOh, God, isnât this great. Theyâre using an old woman,â â she added. âBut now that I think about it, it is cool. I like that.â
Fondaâs latest comments on aging and her fitness routine comes just over a month after the two-time Oscar winner opened up to PEOPLE about her workouts, saying, âI essentially do everything I used to do, just slower.â
âI used to be a runner, but now I love walking,â Fonda added at the time. âI love being outdoors in the woods, especially up and down hills.â

In her PEOPLE interview, Fonda also looked back on the influence of her 1980s-era exercise videos on a generation of womenâs fitness habits; she recalled receiving letters from women around the world who spoke to her videosâ positive impact on their lives.
âI had no idea my videos were going to become such a phenomenon,â Fonda said. âWhen I was starting out, there werenât many rigorous forms of exercise available to women. I learned the basic workout from a charismatic teacher named Leni Kasden in the â70s.â
Fonda has been acting for the screen since 1960 and appeared in dozens of movies and television series over the the course of her career. She most recently voiced a character in the 2023 animated movie Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken and reprised her role in the second Book Club movie. She also made an appearance in Monster-in-Law costar Jennifer Lopezâs 2024 movie, This Is Me⊠Now.Â
Fonda will appear at the 31st SAG Awards on Sunday, Feb, 23, where she will receive the Screen Actors Guildâs Life Achievement Award. The actorsâ union announced Fonda as this yearâs recipient back in October 2024. âI have been working in this industry for almost the entirety of my life and thereâs no honor like the one bestowed on you by your peers,â she said in a statement.
