While Jamie Lee Curtis loves a live music experience, she prefers going to bed early.
In the latest episode of Jenna Bush Hagerâs podcast Open Book, the Freaky Friday actress (whoâs previously expressed desire for more matinee concerts) opened up about who sheâd love to see perform live â if the show is early enough.
âChappell Roan,â Curtis, 66, said in a clip posted to Instagram. âI want to be âHot to Goâ too â but I want to be âHot to Goâ to bed.â
âI am âHot to Goâ to bed,â she added. âAnd therefore you need to play âHot to Goâ so that at 4:30 p.m., weâre all going âH-O-T-T-O-G-O,â and then Iâm going home.â
In two separate interviews in March 2023, Curtis wondered why artists donât perform concerts during the day rather than at night.
âI am gonna just say this now as a taunt and as a suggestion. U2, do a matinee. Coldplay, do a matinee. What about a 12 noon concert, Coldplay? What about it?â asked Curtis, while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.
âBruce Springsteen, do a fâing matinee! Youâre old! Why wouldnât you let me come see you, Bruce Springsteen, in your glory days â pun intended â and do it at noon or one oâclock? Two oâclock! Two oâclock matinee!â she continued. âTheatre in New York, two oâclock! I will come and hear your five-hour concert, Bruce, at two oâclock, and Iâm gonna be home and in bed by 7:30.â
Then, during an appearance on Today, she challenged musicians to hold shows âduring the day.â
âWhy are there no matinees?â the Oscar winner asked. âFor instance, I love Coldplay. I would love to go see Coldplay. The problem is, Iâm not gonna go see Coldplay if they start their show at nine oâclock and thereâs an opening act. I want to hear Coldplay at 1 p.m. I think if we filled a stadium with people who want to see matinee of Coldplay, I think we would start a trend.â
Elsewhere in the interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed she turned down the Oscar nomineesâ dinner for a similar reason.
âNow you might say, âJamie, youâre nominated for an Academy Award, youâre going to be in the room with only nominees for the Academy Award, and I have declined.â Why? Because Mommy goes to bed early,â explained Curtis.
On Open Book, Curtis also discussed her new show, The Sticky, her upcoming film The Last Showgirl, her 40 years of marriage, her path to sobriety and what it was like growing up with famous parents.
