Jamie Foxx has made a full recovery following his medical emergency.
The Academy Award winner’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, issued a statement on Instagram on April 12, 2023, revealing that the actor was on the mend after facing a “medical complication.”
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” the statement read.
Jamie received a plethora of well wishes from family, friends and fans after the news of his health complication was made public.

FOX confirmed that Foxx will be replaced by Nick Cannon to temporarily host the upcoming season of Beat Shazam, while Kelly Osbourne will assume Corinne’s role on the musical game show for the time being.

May 5, 2023: Natasha Blasick says she’s been assured Jamie Foxx is ‘recovering’
At the John Ritter Foundation’s annual An Evening From the Heart fundraiser, Natasha Blasick — who worked with Foxx on a film titled All-Star Weekend — told Entertainment Tonight that a friend of the actor’s recently told her that Foxx is “recovering.”
“I was texting him, and just yesterday I talked to his friend, who’s like really in touch with him. I was, like, really freaking out [with] all of the news that he’s getting worse,” Blasick told the outlet. “So I was texting [his friend], and he’s like, ‘No, no, no, he’s recovering.'”
“So just hearing that he was recovering made me feel so much better,” she continued, sharing that she is “just praying” for Foxx’s continued recovery.
“And my friend yesterday reached out to me, and she’s like, ‘Let’s pray together,’ ” Blasick told the outlet. “I mean, it’s really crazy. All we have in this world is our health. Our life. So it’s very scary.”
May 5, 2023: Source says Jamie Foxx is not in a ‘life-threatening situation’ anymore
A source in the actor’s circle shared with PEOPLE that they were told “Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now.”

May 12, 2023: Jamie Foxx’ friends ask their followers to pray
One week after a source in the actor’s circle told PEOPLE that they were told “Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now,” a number of celebrities took to social media to voice their thoughts and prayers for Foxx.
“Man, prayin for Jamie Foxx,” musician and actor Kid Cudi wrote on Twitter. Meanwhile, Tyler The Creator shared a now-deleted video to his Instagram Story re-sharing a fan account’s video of Foxx performing his 1994 song “Infatuation” and wrote that he was “sending love to” the actor and musician.
Actor James Woods, who costarred with Foxx in the 2013 action movie White House Down, recently shared a story on Twitter saying he came to know Foxx “for for the kind and caring man he is.”

May 15, 2023: Fox announces Jamie Foxx’s return to TV
FOX announced on May 15 that Foxx and his daughter Corinne will host a new musical game show called We Are Family, marking the first new project that stars the actor since news of his health scare in early April. The series, similar to The Masked Singer, is expected to debut in 2024.
We Are Family is a music guessing game that will feature one celebrity every episode alongside a non-famous relative. But there’s a twist: the featured star will be hidden until their identity can be guessed. Up to $100,000 on the line for the studio audience, whose job is to sniff out the celeb based on the clues.
This isn’t the first music-based show for the father-daughter team. They’re currently the hosts of FOX’s Beat Shazam, where contestants have to guess a song correctly to add money to their prize pot.
June 2023: Jamie Foxx’s costars continue to share updates on his health
While promoting Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in May, Foxx’s Project Power costar Dominique Fishback shared that she was very happy the actor was doing better after his health scare. “I always just think that Jamie Foxx is superhuman. So it’s almost like, if I didn’t hear it from somebody close, I didn’t really pay any attention to it,” she told PEOPLE. “I’m just so happy that he is doing well.”
During They Cloned Tyrone‘s premiere in June at the American Black Film Festival in Miami Beach, Florida, John Boyega and Teyonah Parris expressed well wishes for Foxx. “I wish Jamie all the recovery and healing. Foxx opened up about his medical scare for the first time in a video he shared on Instagram.
In the clip, he thanked fans for their prayers. “I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back,” the actor said of his fans’ support.

December 10, 2024: Jamie Foxx shares that he suffered a stroke
Foxx opened up about his medical emergency in his Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was… The actor shared that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
Foxx underwent brain surgery at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. The doctor told the “Blame It” singer’s sister that he’d make a “full recovery but it’s going to be the worst year of his life.” Foxx was in a coma for 20 days and woke up unable to walk. He was sent to Chicago for rehab where he did work to recover mentally and physically.
“It’s about blessings. God blessed me with his talent. He blessed me with all this money and this fame. And when I forgot about God, he blessed me with a stroke,” he told the audience, fighting back tears.
