UPDATE 1/23/26, 9:05 a.m. ET: Jaime King is speaking out after her husband, Austin Sosa, filed for divorce.
“I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” she told Us Weekly on Friday, January 23. “I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”
After recently being spotted with hotelier Vikram Chatwal, King clarified, “Any recent interactions being referenced publicly were strictly professional business meetings and have no connection to this private matter.”
“My focus right now is my work and, above all, my children,” she continued. “This is deeply personal and should remain private, and I hope people will stop making assumptions, particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinize women simply for doing their jobs.”

Jaime King’s second husband, Austin Sosa, has filed for divorce.
Sosa filed court documents to dissolve the marriage on Thursday, January 22, TMZ and People reported.
Us Weekly has reached out to King’s representative for comment.
It is unclear when the couple got married. News of the Hart of Dixie star’s engagement to Sosa first broke in July 2025.
The actress’ rep said told People at the time that she was “grateful” for the well-wishes on her engagement.
The rep added that King, 46, was “especially happy to share this moment with her children, who have a loving bond with Austin and his family.”
“As always, her sons remain her top priority, and she kindly asks for privacy as they move forward together with love and gratitude,” King’s rep said at the time.
King was previously married to director Kyle Newman, with whom she shares two sons, James, 12, and Leo, 10. Taylor Swift is godmother to the former couple’s youngest son.
The White Chicks actress filed for divorce from Newman, 49, in May 2020 after 12 years of marriage. At the time, King also requested a temporary restraining order against Newman.
The exes settled their contentious divorce in September 2023 after a lengthy battle over spousal support and custody of their two children.
“It was an emotional day at the courthouse yesterday, as Jaime and Kyle sat down in a room and hammered out the details of their settlement, putting their two children first,” Newman’s lawyer, Garry M. Gekht, said in a statement to Us at the time. “It was truly touching to see them get along again after years of acrimony — Jaime even joined Kyle to get coffee across the street from the courthouse as I was writing up the settlement agreement.”
In March 2025, Newman was given sole physical custody of the couple’s children, per court documents viewed by Us. (The couple were to remain sharing legal custody, with Newman holding “tie-breaking authority” on any disputes.)
Per the documents, Newman was given sole custody because King had allegedly “not completed” a six-month drug and alcohol program.
King opened up about the custody arrangement the following month during an appearance on the “Whine Down With Jana Kramer” podcast.
“My duty as a mother is to protect my children and that’s all that matters to me,” King said in April 2025.
“I just didn’t know that the world works like this. I didn’t know that legal systems work like this,” she continued. “I thought that, you know, when you choose to love someone, then you love that person. You build a family with them, and you trust them. And sometimes it’s not always that way.”
“I never wanted my children to think that some, any part of them was wrong,” King said. “I’m extremely grateful, and at the same time, the system is really unfair. And I think that it’s really important to support the structure of family and kindness.”
