Sunday was an extra special, celebratory day for Jack Black and his wife Tanya Haden.
On Sunday, February 22, the School of Rock actor and the musician rang in their milestone 20th anniversary, marking two decades since their elopement.
To commemorate the special day, Jack, 56, took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt tribute to Tanya, 54, along with photos of the two throughout the years.
The first of the photos sees them in an embrace looking intently at each other, and next Jack shared a photo of the pair meditating with their two sons, Samuel, 19, and Thomas, 17.
â20 years! Happy anniversary my love,â the doting dad wrote in his caption, and fans were quick to take to the comments section under the post and gush over it.
âBeautiful Family you got there!â one wrote, as others followed suit with: âHappiest of Anniversaries. You both are a big bowl of wonderful,â and: âCongratulations. Love like this is so rare. So glad you found it,â as well as: â@tanyahaden is the COOLEST! Happy Anniversary!â
Tanya, who is originally from New York, is a cellist and vocalist. Her father is the late jazz bassist Charlie Haden, and along with her sisters Rachel and Petra, who she is triplets with, she had a band called That Dog, plus they also performed as The Haden Triplets.
She received an MFA degree from California Institute of the Arts, where she majored in experimental animation, and has recorded with several LA-based bands.
Though Tanya and Jack didnât start dating until 2005, when they were in their early 30s, they actually first crossed paths over a decade prior to that, when both went to the famed Santa Monica private school Crossroads, where the likes of Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jonah Hill, Maya Rudolph, and Sean Astin, among others, also went.
Speaking to Parade in 2015, Jack confessed: âI didnât date Tanya or talk to her or anything in high school,â adding: âI was pretty shy. I just watched her from afar. We only started dating like 20 years after high school.â
Though Tanya and Jack took almost 20 years to reconnect after knowing each other in high school, it didnât take long for them to tie the knot. The two started dating in March 2005, and eloped in March of the following year with a private ceremony in Big Sur, California.
They keep their sons â the firstborn named in honor of Sammy Davis Jr. and the youngest after Jackâs first name, Thomas â largely out of the spotlight. Jack, weighing in on whether either of them will follow in their dadâs footsteps, told Parade in 2023: âIâm not going to pressure them in any certain direction. I just like them to follow their passion and do what theyâre interested in.â
