Kirk Cousins signed a new contract deal with the Las Vegas Raiders on April 2.
The NFL player reunited with his previous quarterbacks coach Klint Kubaik, whom he learned from during his time on the Minnesota Vikings team.
Kirk will be the Raiders’ starter once the 2026 NFL season kicks off in September 2026. The athlete has a jaw-dropping net worth of $180 million, per multiple reports.
Kirk’s love for football
The player’s love for the game started during his time at Holland Christian High School in Michigan. He not only played for the football team, but he was also on the baseball and basketball teams which made him a jack of all trades.
He was offered a scholarship to play collegiate football at Michigan State, where he majored in kinesiology.
Turning pro
During the 2012 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins selected Kirk for their team. He signed a four-year-contract which extended his stay for two more years.
In 2018, he signed on with the Minnesota Vikings. He made history with that contract which was worth a hefty $84 million, according to multiple reports, because it was not only the highest paying contract in NFL history, but it was also the first fully guaranteed one.
Two years later, he signed a contract extension with the team for a jaw-dropping $66 million, per multiple reports.
In 2024, he signed a four-year-contract with the Atlanta Falcons, which was worth an impressive $180 million.
Paying it forward
Kirk is paying it forward to the next generation of players. He opened his Kirk Cousins Football Camp for students.
He shared in a statement on his website: “Our football camp is designed to help young men grow in their understanding of the game while helping them to grow in leadership, faith and integrity. Competition is a great way to develop perseverance and confidence.”
The player added: “Through team activities, drills and scrimmages, we help the campers develop their skills and their character. And we make sure they have fun.”
Kirk is extremely hands on when it comes to his organization. His website’s FAQS section inquired: “Will Kirk be present?” It stated: “The entire time – Kirk won’t just be making an appearance, he’ll be spending time with every participant and will be fully engaged.”
Family life
Apart from his professional career, Kirk has been married to his wife of over 10 years Julie Hampton, and the pair welcomed their two sons Cooper and Turner into the world together.
Kirk wears a rubberized wedding band while he’s out on the field and he shared: “My wife was thrilled. She loved it and, honestly, after I started wearing it and realized how much my wife was glad that I did, I realized, you know, I think it’s a good thing to promote marriage,” per USA Today.
He added: “My wife’s been a huge supporter to me, and I want people not to be afraid of marriage but to be excited about it.
