Good Morning America‘s Somara Theodore finally broke her silence about her on-air status after the recent Weekends update.
The latest GMA Weekends revealed that Leslie Lopez would take over for the weather on Saturdays and Sundays, a role Somara previously held.
The journalist took to social media to thank everyone for their support and concern for her whereabouts.
She revealed: “I have seen the comments, DMs and texts and I am so grateful that I have a village! Love ya’ll down!”
After sharing her gratitude for her fans, the star revealed: “Nonetheless and never to worry, I am still with the ABC News family and have transitioned to weekdays on ABC News Live Mon-Fri! I have been in this industry for over 13 years and have only had 16 months working a Mon-Fri schedule.”
Somara shared that having her weekends to herself again allows her to spend more time with her family.
The correspondent explained: “I’m officially off on weekends and making the most of the time with what matters most in my life…this nugget and her paw paw!”
She concluded: “Something I have maintained and told anyone I mentor, in this life we do not own positions, merely the moments in the position and now I get to own the moment completely on ABC News live and in my best role yet motherhood! And to answer the question I get the most… you can tune into ABC News Live on Hulu and other streaming platforms. Love you earthlings.”
Fans flocked to Somara’s comments to cheer her on and show their support.
One person wrote: “You know your purpose in life,” while a second fan added: “Winning.”
A third commenter continued: “So glad you have more time for what matters most.” A fourth person added: “So happy that you get to spend more time with your family. Yes, your village was ready to ride at dawn for you boo!!”
Somara is relishing in her newfound joy after coming a long way in her healing process.
Just two years ago, the journalist lost her sister Simone to cancer and went through a divorce from Carl C. Scott, after being married since 2019.
During the tiring journey, Somara reconnected with an old friend from college named Nelson, and he became her partner.
The couple welcomed their daughter Noni Ali Hollerway in January 2026 after she faced a complicated pregnancy due to struggling with an incompetent cervix diagnosis.
She wrote online: “Baby girl has arrived and is running the show y’all. So if you’ve reached out or sent messages please allow me some time to get back to each and everyone of you. Thank you soooo much for the outpouring of love!”
